The Marvel Select Gamora with Rocket is actually a Rocket with Gamora in my book. That’s not taking anything away from the Gamora figure but after Diamond’s kickass Groot I was more interested in the Rocket. Space buddies gotta space buddy!
When it came right down to it both figures are fantastic. Great sculpts, way more articulation than you expect, and just a lot of character. They seem to be based on the art of J. Scott Campbell, and in that respect it makes Gamora’s long legs a lot more tolerable because the likeness is nailed here.
Okay, maybe the armors don’t match up perfectly but the aesthetic is there.
Both figures have a couple of loose joints between them but not LOOSE loose, you know what I mean? Where it just flops around like a ragdoll? There is none of that. But there is an assembly issue that is easy to fix. Rocket’s lower legs are backwards, but it’s only an issue with the kneepads. There are swivels above and below the knee so it’s just a simple matter of popping the kneepads (which are mounted directly to the knee), rotating, and then popping the pad back on. Easy peasy. Watch the video, I show how to do it there.
Speaking of articulation and Rocket though, it blows my mind how much movement they packed into a figure this small. It wasn’t until I started exploring a fix for the legs that I discovered half of the leg joints. It’s truly an impressive piece.
And Gamora is pretty sweet too.
