Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done eBay Frenzy. At first I asked myself why, then I realized that it turned cold this weekend. Cold means staying in the house. More time meandering around the net. Plus it’s Star Wars season and I need more characters on the shelf, so here’s some custom heads, repaints, and figures! Plus a couple of Marvel Legends for good measure.
One of the biggest problems I have with Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series are the face paints. The line started good with series 1 and then it progressively got worse. But the sculpts are still there. It’s hard to tell with the bad paint jobs but once stripped and repainted it’s amazing how good they look. Take for instance this head cast and repaint for Yoda.
Also available is the same head with slight tweaks to close the eyes, giving Yoda that “Watch me lift this X-Wing out of the swamp” look.
Add a little hair and the body and you get a mighty fine Yoda for the shelf. Well, except for the missteps in articulation.
This Darth Talon is actually from Strangefate’s Shapeways store, but seeing it painted this nicely is cool.

I have this piece and am super happy with it. I’ll be even more happy when I get around to slinging some paint on it. Throw a light behind it and it’s even more impressive.

And then the Sith Anakin head.
We NEED more Jedi, and we NEED more females in the line. A Luminara Unduli would fit those criteria just fine.
Yeah, I know, but the hair on this X-Men Legends Rogue just adds a lot to it.
The other pic in that auction is what caught my eye though. I need all of these.
The likeness is off and it’s the Poe body, but things like this Biggs is what Hasbro should be using for extras in box-sets or pack-ins or something. Re-use the pilot Luke and give us Rodian pilots, Sullustans, other aliens. It’s just heads but building up a hangar full of pilots would be awesome.
Hmmm, Darth Joker. Interesting.
Finally, a custom sculpted and painted Prune Face head. I’m all for different aliens and while a body may be tricky, it’s easier than coming up with a head this freakin’ nice.
