This year has been a great one for Deadpool fans with the comic, a hit movie, and now an amazing action figure. We’ve had a few Marvel Legends Deadpool figures over the years, and I think this is the best yet. Let’s take a look!
Deadpool comes with a grip of cool stuff, including an alternate head, two pistols, two katanas, a knife, a bazooka, a sci-fi rifle, a launcher, and a taco.
The head sculpts are perfection. The mask has the perfect squinty/bulging eye combo and has neat seams and a little extra flap at the top. The unmasked head is appropriately scarred and the smile is nicely insane.
The pistols are a little soft in the sculpt, but they fit well in the hands and in the holsters. I love that a lot of the weapons can be stored.
The katanas fit into scabbards attached to the shoulder straps. The scabbards are oddly straight, but the swords are curved. I was a bit worried that the scabbards would mess up the swords, but they seem to bend fine to the shape of the swords.
The knife also has a little boot holster.
The larger guns are a little rubbery. I like the large rifle as it seems to harken back to the crazy old Liefield-style designs. The grenade launcher looks good once I straightened it out. I haven’t read the Deadpool book in a while, so I don’t quite get the boxing glove bazooka, but the glove is removable.
There’s also a taco, which is apparently a thing now with Deadpool. It’s a nicely sculpted taco and has some nice paint hits.
Everything looks good here to me. The strap details on the gear, forearms, and boots look really nice. I think the only thing is missing is the costume piping on the chest, a victim of re-use. An interesting choice is the raised pinky on the right hand. I’m not sure of the purpose of that other than Dr. Evil impressions.
The paint is fairly simple except for the unmasked head sculpt. It has a wash that brings out the details well.
The articulation is standard for the line:
- Ball-and-socket head
- Swivel/hinge neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles
- Single-hinged abs
- Double-hinged elbows and knees
- Swivel thighs, biceps, waist, and boots
The ball joint at the neck is a little stiff and doesn’t allow for any tilts, which is a shame because it would have been useful in posing Deadpool.
I love this figure. I haven’t read Deadpool comics regularly since the Agent X days, but this figure is so good I just want to grab a few trades. It’s everything I need from a Deadpool figure.
