After revealing Goku and Frieza two months ago, Bandai is moving right along with their Figure-rise Standard Dragon Ball model kit line, soliciting Super Saiyan 2 Son Gohan and Perfect Cell!
Both Goku and Frieza are set to release this month, so I’m not completely sure how the finished product is in-hand, but I can’t help it. I had to pre-order these Gohan and Cell too. And like I’ve said, I’m not even a huge Dragon Ball fan. I just like good figure model kits so I’m really interested in how these turn out.
The kit includes extra hands and an extra face. The eyes and eyebrows are actually separate pieces, all colored correctly to skip the need for paint or decals in those areas. Absolutely awesome.
The power effects themselves are nice, but I still feel the stand for the blast is clunky.
Perfect Cell
Cell comes with the same extras. Another thing to mention here, all the part seams are recessed into muscle striations so they seem to be a little more hidden than if Bandai had just split parts in half. Although in most promo pics the separations are still a bit obvious. Again, that’s going to be a wait-and-see type thing. Hopefully they close up a tad more.
Cell will run you about $23, and Gohan is selling for around $18. Both sets are due out in September.
I’m hoping this line does well so we can get all of these pictured, plus the vehicles:
