Herocross dips it’s toes into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pool with Hybrid Metal Figuration Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello!
I recently reviewed the Hybrid Metal Figuration Star Wars Boba Fett and Sandtrooper on the Fwoosh YouTube channel, and while I wasn’t blown away by the mechanics of the figures themselves, I did like the actual looks. The squatness, slightly deformed, stylized look is cute and different from your usual action figures. And when it came down to it, I didn’t like them as action figures because of the metal skeleton and separate armor pieces set-up. Here, with the Turtles, it looks like actual limbs without any internal workings. I have a feeling that it will work a lot better.
Each Turtle comes with both angry and happy heads, along with their signature weapons and sheathes. At first I thought Michelangelo came with swappable wrist wraps, then I realized those pieces went on the back of the belt to hold his nun-chucks. Which look to sport real chain, by the way. Sweet. I’m not sure how the sheathes attach to the figure though. Magnets?
Each figure also sports a nice amount of hands, so you have quite a few options. Splayed wide open, open grip, closed grip, and fist. Leonardo has a fifth set too, an open grip hand that is wider than the normal open grip. I can’t figure out what that’s for though.
And if that wasn’t enough, each Turtle comes with a unique accessory. Leo comes with a little Splinter. Raph has a baby turtle. Mikey is packed with pizza, natch. And finally, Donny and his tube of mutagen. I feel like there was a little thought put into these accessories, how each is kind of fitting for each character.
BigBadToyStore now has these up for pre-order. All four as a set is $209.99, or you can pre-order individually for $59.99 each. Leonardo is set to release in June, Michelangelo and Donatello in July, and Raphael in August.
