Hasbro: Marvel Legends AllFather Series King Thor

Hasbro Marvel Legends Allfather Series King Thor featured

King Thor comes from one of the greatest Marvel Comics story arcs in recent times. Write Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic joined forces on Thor: God of Thunder to deliver an amazing story spawning multiple lifetimes in Thor’s universe. From the young man Thor to current Thor to the future King Thor, this epic tale was one worth every penny.

The action figure is the second Build-A-Figure in the Allfather series, or Odin Series, where the main Build-A-Figure was Odin. King Thor is an added bonus and one that I am thankful for, ‘specially as the character continues to appear in Marvel Comics. The difference between Odin and Thor are the metal arm, head, and cape — all an easy swap for anyone wanting to build him.

It is difficult to write much more about a figure that’s already been covered. The head sculpt is perfect and matches Rib’s art. Thor’s right arm is a metal arm, and at the time the comic came out, all we know is that Thor lost his arm and it was replaced by what looks to be Destroyer’s arm. Later on, in another Thor relaunch, we learn that Thor lost his arm and how it was replaced. Epic. Depending on how you pose King Thor, he’s either with his sword or hammer — he uses both in the comic. At the time, young man Thor was using the axe Jarnbjron, and there were plenty of hammers for all three to use. The difference between Odin’s and Thor’s capes is Odin’s is blue and Thor’s is red. And the capes suck. They are incredibly stiff, impossible to pose, and they keep falling off.

The rest of the figure is the same as Odin, and, truth be told, the figure was sculpted after King Thor’s outfit in Aaron’s and Ribic’s run. It was just fitted to meet Odin’s standard and is probably why most of us feel like Odin isn’t grand enough. It’s a fair complaint.

As mentioned, I love the King Thor character, ‘specially when he takes on Galactus or is managing his daughters. It’s a fantastic piece of literature and the figure matches that writing. As one who reads both classic and modern comics, I needed this figure on my shelf, and I have a feeling that over time, you will too. You can still pick him up at:
