Giant-Man is the Build-a-Figure action figure from Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Captain America: Civil War Giant-Man series. There are six parts in all to collect in order to build this figure: two arms, two legs, a head, and a chest, and they are easily assembled to make your 10-inch Giant-Man.

This may come as a bit spoiler-y for many a collector and movie goer, but Giant-Man seems to make an appearance in the movie. Granted, no one has seen him in any of the trailers, but it would appear that his inclusion in this Civil War-themed wave indicates that he is in the movie. We know that Ant-Man makes an appearance in Civil War; we’ve seen him in the trailers. But not Giant-Man — yet. It could be Hasbro decided not to make another 6-inch Ant-Man and decided to make a 10-inch version instead. Because they can. Who knows for certain. We’ll have wait until later this spring.

The figure is great. It’s the new look that Scott Lang sports in Civil War, and we know it’s the Ant-Man costume, as we’ve seen it previewed. It’s a great upgrade from the Ant-Man costume worn in last year’s Ant-Man movie; it’s still retains the overall look but gets slightly streamlined, modern touches. The helmet is the most noticeable part as it is very streamlined, very pointy at the mouth. The helmet is a new look and judgement is out on it.

The figure is really well-sculpted. Hasbro’s Marvel Legends are so cookie-cutter good that it gets tiring saying that “they nailed it” review after review. But that is the reality. These sculpts are super-sharp, from the overall physical aesthetics to the sculpted details. After careful inspection, there few faults to be found. Really, if there is one to point out, it’s the open hand and fist hand. Not so much the sculpt, but the size seems off between the left and right hands. It might be an optical illusion based on the open hand being open and the fisted hand being closed, but it gives the impression that one hand is larger than the other. A collector would need to take out calipers to make the proper measurements to find out for sure.

The articulation is standard for Marvel Legends. There are no new joints and there is no omission of existing joints. The range of motion in the ab-joint is limited, so there will be no back stretching for this figure, and the frontal crunch works okay. As with all the figures that feature the new ankle rocker, there is some limit in the forward-and-backward motion of the ankles — the foot can only rotate so far. In real life humans are limited in that range of motion, but collectors and Instagrammers might not like the limited range of motion.

Stability is a subject that needs to be addressed with tall Build-a-Figures. Many of the older ones fall over easily and the experience with this figure, so far, is that he isn’t the most stable of Build-a-Figures. Not the worst, but collectors need to be aware that he will probably shelf-dive.

As this figure is an accessory, there are no accessories for him. You have to live with yourself for buying six figures to build one. Not a terrible problem as the Build-a-Figure program continues to be a success with collectors.

You can’t order this figure yet as it isn’t available for pre-order.
