A couple of weeks ago we had a chance to give out a couple of Back to the Future items thanks to our friends at Entertainment Earth. Well, now we are back with a great item from Star Wars: The Force Awakens to send to a lucky winner.
I know, anticipation for this movie is already at a fevered pitch, but the fortunate thing is that, since it is now November, we can say that it officially comes out next month! That is saying something, right? Well, as any good action figure collector will tell you, there is nothing like passing the time waiting for a movie as collecting the supporting action figure line. As usual, Hasbro is not being shy the amount and variety of product they are releasing, and, back in September, Force Friday we kind of a big deal.
So, this being Star Wars, you know that there is plenty of love to go around, and Entertainment Earth is featuring this exclusive Assault Walker with First Order Stormtrooper Officer at the 1:18 scale (that is, 3 3/4) on their site. This is a fun little set because not only do you get a little battle vehicle (that is a builder), but you get a driver that can also be used as an army-builder. Now, I have no idea what capacity these will be used in the movie, but judging by size of the First Order that we have seen in the trailers, I have a feeling we will be seeing a LOT of these, and probably on the desert planet Jakku.
This set is in the basic 1:18 line (not the Black Series), so the Stormtrooper has the typical five points of articulation, but since this is a stand-up pilot vehicle, the figure does not even miss the knee articulation. The Walker itself has obvious design cues shared from the old Imperial AT-ST, and it feature six points of articulation if you include the swivel on the gun barrel and the controls that move up and down. The legs allow a variety of posing, and you can just about get it to balance on one foot, but I wasn’t able to completely pull it off. Either way, the beauty of a 1:18 line is that you get vehicles, and this one will be fun to lineup against the new good guys.
