Trailers for The Force Awakens have shown us that there are no shortage of Stormtrooper variations in this new Star Wars era. They’ve shown flame troopers, heavy troopers, riot control troopers, regular troopers, TIE pilots and the subject of our article today: Snowtroopers. Hasbro doesn’t seem to be shy about adding troopers to the 6-inch black series line with a regular trooper in wave one and TIE Pilots and Snowtroopers scheduled for future waves. This figure is a Toys R Us exclusive Snowtrooper officer variant. Let’s take a look!

Accessories
The Snowtrooper officer comes with a blaster and a back pack. The gun is similar to the regular trooper’s rifle, but it has a longer shoulder stock. The gun has slightly soft plastic, but it wasn’t warped in package.
The pack attaches solidly to his back on a single peg and has a nicely detailed sculpt. His shoulder pauldron is removable (not glued down), but you have to heat and pop the head to make the swap. It’s cast in a pretty soft plastic and looks good on the regular trooper too!
Articulation
The articulation is pretty standard for the Black Series with:
- Swivel/hinged shoulders, elbows, hips, neck, wrists, and ankles
- Ball-hinged mid-torso
- Double-hinged knees
- Thigh swivel
The elbows have better range of motion than the regular trooper, with an almost 90 degree bend and he can manage a two-handed-blaster-holding pose pretty well.
The skirt does stop backward leg movement, but it’s soft enough to allow forward leg movement. The wrists are both in/out swivels rather than up/down. Sometimes I prefer the up/down swivel for rifle holding poses.
The trooper is cast in mostly shiny white plastic for the armor and more flat plastic for the uniform. The small details look pretty good, though I have a misaligned tampo on the helmet.
He looks pretty accurate to the film stills I’ve seen, and the design has a cool “McQuarrie concept trooper” vibe that I like a lot.
Overall he’s a nice-looking Snowtrooper and I’d love to grab a couple of regular troops for him to lead!
