Hasbro – Marvel Legends Infinites Target 3-Pack: Captain America

Everyone is expecting me to hate this figure. And I want to. I really, really, really want to. But I can’t. I will get crucified for liking any part of this figure by my circle, and I will never live this down. I like this Cap. Yes, the guy that busted apart Hasbro for putting Magneto on this dated, overused buck, likes Cap on this very buck.

Cap is part of the new Marvel Legends Target Exclusive 3-Pack featuring Ms. Marvel, Radioactive Man, and Cap. It’s a great set and I’m still excited about having the opportunity to get an early look at it.

It’s not perfect. After all, we saw this figure earlier in the Hit Monkey Series, kind of. The main differences are the legs and vest. The thighs on the Target 3-pack use the Drax thighs from the Zola Series, which were newly sculpted and look way better than the original cylinders used on the Toy Biz Punisher Face Off figure. The thighs are much more “organic-looking” and really pop on this figure. The lower legs and the new thighs really flow together and it restores a lot of good balance to this figure. If only Hasbro had figured out how to change the waist piece so it were taller and they could put barbell hips in there.

The other difference is the 3-pack Cap has a shoulder harness and not a vest, and somehow this shoulder harness really brings Cap together. It makes a chest that I dislike likeable. It think it gives the chest a feeling of extra girth. It doesn’t fix my issues with the narrow ab joint and the lack of girth and detail on the chest, but it does cover up the chest, making the flaws less visible.

I’m still not a fan of the sculpt of the arms; the biceps just don’t look right, but the gloves are great. I like the masked head and unmasked head — great sculpts, even if they are on the large size. I think both of these head sculpts would fit the Hyperion buck perfectly. Hmm…

When I look at this figure and I start thinking about all the changes that I’d like to see, I come to that horrible realization that Hasbro just needs to make a new buck for these figures. I know I’m beating a dead horse, I know.

The shield may be my favorite part of the figure. The white parts are painted silver/metallic like the movie shield. It looks fantastic! So good that my NOW! Cap might be getting an upgrade. The other accessories are the belt and the chest strap, both of which are removable and will fit the Superior Spidey and Black Panther bucks. I have not tried them out on the female bucks, but I am certain they’ll fit without problems.

The question you are all dying to ask is this: “Pabs, did this figure make it the Top 5 Cap list?” With heavy heart, yes, it did. Despite the reuse of this tired body and the slightly oversized heads, the new parts just make this figure pop for me. Next time we do a Cap Top 5, you guys will be the judges.
