First Look – Zombihamma General Sunder Conversion Kit

General Sunder_18The end of the year has hit with an embarrassment of riches in Masters of the Universe Classics toys between the regular monthly figures (PLUNDOR!), Castle Grayskull, and amazing third-party accessories.  The General Sunder kit is one of those great third-party accessories designed to easily transform a Horde Trooper into Horde General Sunder and is sculpted, cast, and painted by Fwoosher Zombihamma!

The kit comes with three pieces: a chest plate and two head sculpts.  The chest plate is designed to press straight on to the existing Horde Trooper figure.

General Sunder_02As you can see, the chest piece has the inverse of the Horde Trooper chest inside.  The great thing about this is that it hooks right on to the trooper with no glue or anything.  It clips right on there really well and stays on tight.  This is an advantage if you don’t want to fully commit one of your troopers to being General Sunder forever.

The sculpt on the chest piece is perfectly smooth and symmetrical and fits the machined look of the trooper armor exactly.  The paint job also matches precisely, so it’s a very smooth add on that blends in really well. General Sunder_07 General Sunder_08The head sculpts slide right onto the existing neck pegs.  You may want a bit of Blu-Tack to keep it on there well. The helmeted head sculpt matches the Filmation source material really well, but it feels like it fits in fine with the MOTUC style.  It looks perfectly smooth and professional in every way.

The unmasked head matches up with the masked head sculpt nicely and is also highly faithful to Sunder’s appearance in the episode “Return of the General,” right down to the slight flip of his wavy hair.  If you want to sculpt a version of Sunder wearing his farmer coveralls, this would work really well.  I love having the option to display him holding the helmet and fully armored-up.

To complete the Sunder look, you will need to supply your own cape, holsters and guns.  I used a Chief Carnivus cape chopped at the neck and glued to the chest plate and two Adora holsters glued to a belt from Grizzlor (thank goodness for those big lots discount finds!). General Sunder_26The blasters are from the weapons rack. General Sunder_27I could not be more pleased with this custom conversion kit.  The quality is top notch and I consider it good value for the money.  The portions of the custom I did really only required a little gluing and cutting and took less than an hour. General Sunder_28I love that the chest plate cape attachment points are painted gold here and match with the belt.  The sculpt is so great; I can’t stop staring at it.  I’m so glad that the world of third-party accessories for MOTUC (my favorite toy line) is exploding right now. General Sunder_29I think this kind of activity can only help Mattel as it just adds so much fun to collecting the line and helps the collector add obscure and brand new creations to their collections.
