No, really, we are asking YOU! We have often speculated about what the most likely action figure reveals will be for any given line at any given convention, but this time, we are really interested to hear what you think. It never ceases to amaze us just how sly and cunning Fwooshers and the action figure collecting community at large can be when it comes to figuring out reveals before they even happen. Sometimes leaked lists or insider information helps. Sometimes eBay spoils the surprises, heck, sometimes a company’s own website will accidentally blow the big unveilings. This time, though, things have been pretty close to the chest when it comes to leaked information.
Now, there are a few bits of information that are out there that might help you make your picks, and we will take our one guess as well, but please take a moment to sound off with your pick(s) in the comment section below. Or you can post to our Facebook wall or send us a Tweet. We are really interested to see if the MOTU fans can call it before they see it — AGAIN!
While we don’t have any idea how many reveals there will actually be, we do know that there is at least one brand-new reveal waiting to happen. We are guessing it will be in addition to the two figures already partially revealed. Here is what we know so far:
- Scorpia was teased at the Mattypalooza panel at SDCC, so we are confident we will see her in all her glory.
- Blade‘s sword snuck into the Mattel booth unannounced on the last day of SDCC, so we are looking forward to seeing our very first MOTU movie figure too.
- Toy Guru has confirmed that a 200x character will be shown at the show.
Is there anything else? Okay, knowing that Scorpia and Blade are pretty much locks, who do you think is the next most likely character to be shown? LET US KNOW!
What is our pick? Well, even though Toy Guru said that a 200x character will be revealed, I tend to think that he actually meant that a character that appeared on the MYP show will be revealed. We know that vintage MOTU and PoP and popular characters from other media will be the priorities over the next couple of years, so, with that in mind, we are going to go with:
EVILSEED
Yep. He has been talked about for a long time, and he is one of the most high-profile cartoon characters left undone at this point. Now, personally, even with the 200x allusion, I find the 200x Evilseed to be horribly boring in terms of character and design when compared to his FilMation counterpart. That design was completely unique and very creepy; plus, he was able to bring all of Eternia to its knees by being a smart and calculating villain, not just another evil thug. That being said, I know that (for some reason) the vote is split on Evilseed, so if Mattel is going to make a figure of him, I think that anything short of the ability to display BOTH versions of the character will be considered a failure. I know the looks are pretty different, but it could be done; you just need a removable cloak (like Marlena), some swappable arms, detachable vines, and two heads. Yeah, it would be a very highly tooled figure, but Mantenna and Two-Bad have shown us that you can still get an expensive figure on a card so long as there is a cheap one to balance him out. So Ninjor might need to be called in to add some budget relief later in the year.
So that is our pick. Evilseed with multiple display options would be an absolute beast of a reveal, and if it is done well enough, maybe they can convince me to pick up a second figure to make the 200x version a plant henchmen of the TRUE Filmation Evilseed. It could be fun!
