Ask Matty – 9/15/10

Hey! Didja miss our Ask Matty answers recently? We did too, we had a couple of small mix ups but now everything is set to order and we have a few extra answers this time around! Check them out!

1. At SDCC, the DCUC 16 Collect and Connect Bane figure looked WAAAAAAY too big in the case compared to the production figures that surrounded him (he was like, twice their height!) can you confirm if he was actual size or if he will be scaled down in production. Please don’t make him that large, it is not accurate. Thanks.

Right now we don’t have an exact size for him. As we get closer to a tool’d model we will post some images!

2. What was the inspiration for the design of MOTUC Bow’s headband? It doesn’t look like the vintage figure’s but it is still somehow familiar.

It is indeed based on the headband that came with the vintage figure in “Classic” style.

3. At SDCC the DCUC 16 AzBats had his gauntlet spike on incorrectly/upside down, will this be fixed in the final version?

Yes. That was just a human error due to having to set up samples so quickly at SDCC. Of course, the actual toy will be correct.

4. Matty! You did not show ONE new MOTUC female at Comic Con this year. That means that, between June 2010 and AT LEAST April 2011, there is not a new female to add to our shelves. Can you tell us when we can expect the next monthly female figure? The ladies are getting seriously outnumbered.

We don’t have an exact release date right now but there are more females in the 2011 line than in 2010 if that helps!

5. The DCUC Mercury figure has a pretty wicked scissor attachment for his left arm – it looks great! However, both Iron and Gold had TWO attachments, can we expect another for Mercury and if so, what will it be?

Mercury only has one accessory.

6. Over the last few weeks there have been factory prototype figures like a repainted Wonder Woman with yellow paint apps instead of gold and a repainted lighter Superman for DCUC that have made their way to the web–the response to them has been overwhelmingly positive. Will Mattel find a way to release these even though for instance the Superman/Bizarro 2 pack was dropped.

Sorry, we can’t comment on unannounced figures. We literally have tons of figures in the hopper at any given moment, but until we have full licensor approval we can’t comment on unannounced prototypes.

7. It was recently said that most of the 2011 Ghostbusters tooling went to the Louis Tulley/Vinz Clortho figure – does that mean we won’t be seeing any other “Non Four Ghostbusters” figures for the rest of the year? There are still a lot of secondary characters yet to be done.

At least two of the figures in 2011 will be non-Ghostbuster figures.

8. Do Bow’s new hips joints (and King Hisss’s) allow his leg to kick out 90 degrees straight?

Bow has new wrist articulation, not new hip joints.
