At The Movies with SCB

This week we head to the recent releases in DVD as well as to the theaters. I have two very good recommendations with Splinter, a horror movie and The Hangover, the funniest movie of the year so far.

Let’s start with Splinter.

Horror movies were an epic failure last year and looking like the same this year, don’t let me down SAW 6!

I think this movie was in theaters for a couple of months, but only in a couple of cities in California and Texas.

Anyways, highly recommend horror fans rent this. It’s a parasite monster movie with a couple and a convict trapped in a gas station while the monster outside tries to get inside. I know, doesn’t sound original, but it’s enjoyable and well made for the plot I just described.

Special effects and tension are pretty good.

Rent it!

And the best for last, The Hangover.

This is one of the most entertaining comedies I have seen. Best one since Superbad. It might be Superbad/40 Year Old Virgin for married guys.

That being said, it’s a whole different animal than those buddy movies. It is very creative and has you guessing and shocked till the end. I could not figure out where it was going or how it would end. When it was over, I didn’t want to leave.

Everyone in the movie is golden and hilarious, no weakest links.

One of the best of 2009, must see.
