Recipes:
Blue Beetle was made from a TNA series 8 Eric Young figure. Shirt was
removed, head was sanded down to remove hair texture, then apoxie
sculpt was added to give the head a nice round shape. More apoxie was
added for the goggles and belt buckle. Paint is primarily Jo Ann
fabrics line of acrylics. A clear coat was added to protect the paint
and give it more of a “toy” look.
Firestorm is made from a HML FF series Human Torch. Some of the flame
hair was trimmed down, and then Super Sculpey was used to shape the
helmet, ear buds, and shoulder pauldrons. The pauldrons are shaped so
that Firestorm can raise his arms tightly above his head in a flying
position (not shown). Additional sculpey was added for each red disc
on his uniform, including the single red disk on his back (not shown).
Green Lantern was made from a DCSH Superman. Cape was removed and
areas filled in with apoxie. Belt was cut off and sanded down. Symbol
is decoupaged on but with super glue which caused it to remain slightly
raised. Lantern prop is the top of a clothespin, glued to another
clothespin cylinder chunk, dremeled to make the lantern crevice, and
then drilled so that a green piece of telephone wire could act as the
handle.
Return to Krypton Superman was made from a HML Hercules. Herc’s actual
head is really under all that apoxie sculpt. The chest symbol and
extra leg musculature are both apoxie. Cape is from a DCSH Superman.
Composite Superman is made from a DCSH Superman. The pieces cut from
the cape on the Batman side were used to make Batman’s ear and gauntlet
spikes, as well as the utility belt. Two half-symbols were printed on
inkjet paper and decoupaged on.
