Four Horsemen Studios: Mythic Legions Vorgus Vermillius

vorgus-vermillius-01We continue our look at the Mythic Legions line with the Fan’s Choice figure, Vorgus Vermillius — aka The Blood Armor. Fan votes rarely go my way, but I loved the look of this knight from the jump, so I was very glad The Blood Armor won the Fan’s Choice vote.

vorgus-vermillius-02Vorgus Vermillius has a pretty cool background. He’s basically a vampire who makes a deal with some demons to acquire more power. It doesn’t work out well (surprise!), and the magic armor absorbs his soul and is cursed to continue feeding off of souls

vorgus-vermillius-03He comes with a predictable assortment of accessories if you are familiar with Mythic Legions, including the basic sword, the strap, an axe, and a spear. He also has a snazzy black cape.

The accessories are nicely sculpted and cast in solid plastic. My favorite is the sword, but the spear is a close second. The axe annoys me because it stretches out the hand. I do like that the axe has the same nice red dry brush paint job highlights as the armor.

vorgus-vermillius-07The helmet has removable horns that swivel. I like it with horns pointed mostly down.

vorgus-vermillius-08The paint is pretty simple, but I really love the dry brush red look on the black base.

vorgus-vermillius-09The articulation is the standard Mythic Legions with the following POA:

  • Swivel Neck, thighs, forearms
  • Ball/socket waist, neck
  • Swivel/hinge shoulder, elbows, hips, ankles, knees, and wrists

vorgus-vermillius-10The articulation is a little looser on this guy than some of my other Mythic Legion figures in the hips, but otherwise good.

vorgus-vermillius-11The only part I don’t love is that the joints are a pretty light red color and are sometimes exposed, depending on the pose.
