Hasbro: Star Wars Black Series Zuckuss Video and Quick Pics

The Star Wars Black Series Zuckuss has been on my mind a lot these past few months. At Toy Fair it was announced as a Toys R Us exclusive. My TRU had already announced it’s closure, and we know the rest of that story. At SDCC Hasbro said it’s a Disney Store exclusive. Robo doesn’t have a Disney Store close to him. So, overseas it is.

Yeah yeah, sure sure, I could have waited. I travel to a lot of comic cons, I could have haunted a few on the road. Or I could have been patient and ordered one when it went up for sale on the Disney site. Those are rational things to do.

But this is Star Wars. This is action figures. This is bounty hunters. This. Is. Fwoosh.

I have a problem, okay? But it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I actually found a listing for it from Amazon.co.jp proper a few months ago that had a release date of late August. I threw a pre-order in, y’know, just in case. And it fulfilled this week, to my surprise. It was a little higher than US retail but I have a Zuckuss safe and secure in the bosom of my collection. Okay, that’s weird.

And I’m glad. Glad, I tell you, because the figure itself is amazing! When you think of the Empire Strikes Back bounty hunters, there’s usually a pecking order. Boba Fett, of course, then IG-88, Dengar, 4-LOM, and then Zuckuss. At least that’s my order. But this figure takes that ranking in mind and says to hell with that, I’m turning this up a notch. Last? I think not, good sir.

Double elbows with full range, same with the knees, and the hips are better than most Spider-Mans we’ve gotten lately. I can’t see it but the shoulder feels like a ball joint. Cover that in a fully functional cloth robe that has an inspiring motif of Gand camo (at least that’s what I’m calling it, the bleach effect is awesome) and it retains all that movement while making it more movie accurate while looking great to boot. The sculpted parts like the hands, harness, hands, and whatever a synonym for foot that starts with “H” would be, all very nice. The metal parts look metal, the leather leathery, the organic ick icky, and it’s all helped by a nice brown wash to bring out some surprising detail.

It feels small at first until you realize just how short the character in the movie actually is.

Gus is a good stand-in, but bring on Dengar!!

That can wait though. This Zuckuss completely satisfies my need for Star Wars plastic, at least for the moment. And I can say that because I’m not expecting anything new in the near future. I’ll buckle at the first hint of the next assortment hitting though.

Didn’t I mention I have a problem?
