Kaiyodo: Amazing Yamaguchi Spider-Man Video and Quick Pics

Don’t like the Amazing Yamaguchi line or Revoltech joints? Perhaps you don’t care for stylized aesthetics or proportions. Hate gappy and puzzle-like articulation points despite giving you amazing posing possibilities? Then this Spider-Man isn’t for you. Don’t click this. I SAID DON’T CLICK THIS!

But if any or all of those float your boat then kindly lend me your ear. You may have just found your grail Spidey.

Now I preface all of this with having a perfectly good and acceptable Marvel Legends Spider-Man. It can pose fairly well and looks great in a vanilla pose. In fact, there are several choices in this category and if Hasbro hasn’t covered your preferred version, chances are they will at some point. Long story slightly shorter, I have my plain jane main display wallcrawler.

The Amazing Yamaguchi Spidey is a break out for special occasions kind of toy. It’s not meant for city traffic, this is the flat out pedal to the metal raceway model. It looks like absolute hell in your standard yearbook pose. If you don’t get the joints twisted or turned correctly it looks like a mess. But when you hit that sweet spot, that leg-over-the-head-crunched-down-arms-crossed wonder, that’s when you know you dig this figure. A lot. A whole lot.

Basically, it’s an acquired taste. You either love it or hate it. Or really, frustratingly put up with the joints because of the poses or hate it. There is no gray area towards the hate side, while the love side gets about five hundred and two shades, mostly grouped to the middle and spreading wider towards love.

This is the point where you think I’ve gone crazy. And if you had told me a year ago that I would be singing the praises of Revoltech joints I would have thought the same. But here I am, crazy as can be.

Oh yeah. Suck it, Indy.
