It'd be nice if these weren't crap. Here's to hoping they got some good sculptors for these.
I guess they forgot they have the license?
I'm actually really curious. What happened? . I know that they may or may not have been great but I was curious to see what came of this.
This is a line that I still catch myself thinking about, wondering if anything will ever be done with it. Yeah, I didn't have the highest of hopes for it either, but I would've loved to have been proven wrong. I wonder if they were worried about longevity for the line? Yeah, there's a healthy amount of popular games they could've drawn from (heck, Last of Us alone could've sustained the line for a good year or two), but compared to something like the Nintendo series, which is going on, what, 50 or so waves by now? Or maybe Sony just didn't like what they saw and wouldn't approve anything or was too difficult to work with? Part of me still hopes that something will pop up and it'll catch my interest, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

I can do you one better. I truly cannot believe this license bore fruit. I feel like I have to support it just so we can get a Ratchet and Clank set. The single-jointed elbows are killer on an archer, though.
I was shocked to see the post a couple weeks back, myself. So glad that they're finally still coming. I think Aloy looks great for the most part (was not expecting swappable face plates!), and if they give us a decent amount of Last of Us figures like that, it'll make my little nerd heart so happy.
It is quite strange how often a company will give us a figure of an archer character, and make their articulation so that you can't really get them into many archer poses. Not easily, at least. Aloy at least looks a little better than some other recent characters- the string looks to be pretty pliable, which makes a difference. It's such a toss-up: part of me wishes that archer characters would come with a bow that has a fixed arrow on it so as not to go through the headache of trying to get the arrow to stay or look natural. But on the other hand, especially if the articulation doesn't allow for natural-looking archery poses, then having a fixed arrow would look out of place.
Anyway, I'll reserve my ultimate judgement until we have more in-hand photos and videos. I'm mostly just happy that these are finally coming to fruition, and I hope the line is made well enough and sells well enough that we get a pretty deep roster eventually.
In an ideal world, I'd love to see a pre-posed bow and a bow with a string and loose arrows.
I'm not really sure what to do here because I didn't love the first Horizon game. To the degree that I never played the second, and probably never will. It had all the ingredients for a great game, but it never really came together for reasons I can't articulate (no pun intended). It had an interesting story, cool worldbuilding, and great enemy design, yet it left me feeling empty. Something about it was too paint-by-numbers. And Aloy was boring.
All that said, I have precious few women on my gaming shelf and want to support this line. We'll see.
In a since-deleted(?) tweet, Preternia said the rumored figures from wave one are from God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II. Even though I love the NECA figure I already have, I should at least be able to buy a Kratos without reservation. Maybe Jin, too. To be honest, I wish I liked that game more, too. 😆Â
As much as I like TLOU2, I'm not sure I'm interested in figures. That game is so fucking bleak.
I get the reservation on getting figures from a series like TLOU. It's not exactly a rollicking good time and filled with happy, joyous characters. I'm surprised that something like Uncharted wasn't included in the first (supposed) wave, but I guess they gotta save some bigger names to anchor a potential second wave. That said, at least for me, the characters in TLOU are memorable/iconic enough that they really mean something to me, and having them represented in plastic form feels warranted. Not to mention I'm a sucker for a cool, creepy monster design, so an army of the various Infected would be welcome too.
So far, it's just been the usual suspects- a couple companies like NECA or Lim Toys giving us Joel and Ellie figures, Funko doing Joel, Ellie, and a Clicker, and then Dark Horse doing statues of Joel, Ellie, Abby, and a Clicker. Not a super deep roster by any means, and plenty of big names left to do by companies that, if they ever get around to doing them, could be a long while. Not saying that Spinmaster would give us those missing characters any quicker, granted, but it seems perhaps a little more likely. Seeing as how they're all normal, everyday people, they wouldn't necessarily need the most involved of articulation, so something a little more limiting might feel a little more natural. As much as I love the NECA figures of Joel and Ellie, they definitely don't have much range of motion. They feel nice and sturdy, sure, but I'd love to do some poses that are at least a bit more involved. But again, if you just get the 2 or 3 named characters and never any Infected to pose them with, they end up feeling a little incomplete. So hopefully we'll at least get enough of a roster for any of these games so that, if this first wave is all that ends up happening, it won't feel like a missed opportunity on our shelves. Too many properties lately have been started, but stop before the roster can get too deep, and some crucial characters are missed out on.

I honestly can't wait to pre-order. This figure looks great, and the load out is fantastic. So many faces! When I saw preternia's leaked post a week ago, I was happy that the face print looked on par with Hasbro's stuff, if not better, but I was not expecting anything more than grip hands and a bow.
I assume the first wave will be Ellie, Jin, Kratos, and Aloy. If that's the case, Sly Cooper, Ratchet, and Nathan Drake are the big omissions for me. I hope this does well enough to justify a second set. It wouldn't be right to get a TLOU2 Ellie without Joel and Abby, either.
Oh man... I don't even play video games and this line has me intrigued.  This figure of Aloy looks great and I will definitely pick her up just based on the look and execution of the figure.
Â
And if Jin Sakai is coming next that's an even bigger win if he looks as good as this one.  I have a couple of figures of Kratos from NECA - but I'd happily add one from this line as well if it's well executed.   Â

I'm much more interested in characters dressed in historical, mythical or fantasy outfits for my figure shelf so figures from the Last of Us will do nothing for me and I will skip.   But I am interested to see where else this line may go in future releases, so I think I'll be ordering 3/4 of the rumored figures as soon as I can.
The interesting thing is that Preternia took down all images from his socials and hasn't posted these new ones, so I'm guessing there is some sort of planned reveal, maybe at the next Playstation State of Play?
