I'm not concerned about Aloy - she's popular.
As far as her supporting cast - we'll have to see how that pans out. I was lukewarm on the notion of Varl by himself...but the addition of Erend warms me up to Varl's inclusion. If they're actually giving us a group of characters to work with I'm definitely more into the vibe.
Ah...I wondered if Days Gone would make the cut. Sam Witwer is a pretty popular genre actor, so I can see why they'd consider including a figure in the line w/ his likeness to to be a plus.
TLOU tv is interesting and definitely opens things up conceptually. Wonder if this also means things like the Uncharted movie are on the table, etc.
I'm not super familiar w/ InFAMOUS but cool that they're pulling from the deeper catalog.
I think Aloy is absolutely popular enough to warrant an action figure. Not so sure about the supporting cast. I can see them warming pegs depending on the scale of production here. Hopefully they won't be trying to push too much product to stores. We all know how Overwatch ended up for Hasbro...
To be clear, they should've made Aloy. She's the face of a best-selling series. I beat the first game and couldn't tell you a single thing about the rest of the cast, though. If they were going to go deep on one game's side characters, it should've been Uncharted.
I also realized that they somehow picked Delsin from Infamous Second Son (the final game in the trilogy) instead of Cole, the more recognizable protagonist from the first two games.
This is one of those lines that has me puzzled out of the gate.
I felt the same way about Horizon's supporting cast while playing the first game. They got better in the second game though, enough to not make me confused at their inclusion in the line.
God of War is the one they need to make multiple characters of. Pretty much all characters are memorable, from the newer games or the older. Great designs too. Baldur, Odin, Thor, Freya, Tyr, the dwarves, Zeus, Hades, Athena, Hercules, all the other gods... not to mention the versions of Kratos we could get.
The fact that they're pushing Horizon so much is just weird to me. Aloy is great, but the rest? Why?
Yeah, I've gotta say - if I was going to pick any of these properties to be the one I make lots of figures from, it would be God of War - both from a popularity and 'toyeticness' standpoint. I really don't get the Horizon love. The figures look fucking terrible. Not because the figures are designed/made poorly, but because the designs from the game are hideous.
But that's just my opinion. Horizon would barely rank above The Last of Us, for me, as a game series that doesn't need tons of figures beyond who you play as.
Anyone know if Amazon will be getting in more Kratos? All I get are ones that cannot ship to my location
Amazon notification says Aloy is now shipping out around mid August.
I'm terribly late, but yeah. Horizon should get figures of Aloy, but... who the hell are these side characters? I can name dozens of Sony characters from forgotten and failed IPs that are more toyetic and will actually be known by at least somebody. I am THE obscure picks guy, but if there's no cool design, no hidden gem it's tied to, or anything else... kinda a waste.
Cole not coming first is silly. God of War could make for a stellar toyline on its own, but at least a classic Kratos is essential for this line. Sackboy? Sir Daniel? Ratchet? Jak? Crash? Sly Cooper? There's too many characters I've seen asked for several times with no representation in sight. This could be a smash hit line but it's definitely not got the right line-up to excite anyone.
Amazon sent another update - Aloy is arriving on Sunday the 11th for me. Looking forward to it!
I've been doing a playthrough of HZD and I forgot how good this game is.
The only Horizon figures I was ever interested in were the robots, but they're not exactly practical to build a line out of.
Aloy has shipped and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Nice! I'm in the middle of packing to move, though, so I probably won't open her for a bit. Good news is that I'm moving from a one bedroom apartment into a 3 bedroom house, so I've got plenty of room for action figures! Bad news is, less money for action figures
Okay I said I wouldn't open her, but I couldn't resist. I didn't take out any of the accessories, but the figure itself is really nice. The articulation is well engineered, and I can see why she's priced higher than a normal figure. I would say $50 still feels too high, but she definitely feels like a premium action figure to me. She's got 5 points of articulation in her hair alone! The joints are all pretty smooth, I had no issues with anything stuck. Torso articulation is great.
Main issue is that the seam for the faceplate doesn't blend in quite enough. And I wish she had double jointed elbows, especially since they gave her a bicep swivel anyway.
Hoping this line does well, because I'm impressed so far.
