@tenime I wouldn’t worry too much about it failing at this point. The line has too much momentum and not that many SF2 characters left to do. There is improved articulation and sculpts that are still good and make the line cohesive. I’d  actually start to wonder for line after USF2 are done.

Listened to a couple of interviews from SDCC and got a few bullet points:

- Wave 3 (Cammy, Dee Jay and Guile) goes up for pre-order soon, and Wave 4 (Blanka, Vega and Sagat) should be out by next Spring. The goal is for the remaining 5 (Akuma, Balrog, Zangief, T. Hawk and E. Honda) to be on shelves by the end of 2025.

- Akuma is 100 percent brand new rather than being a head swap of the Ryu/Ken body. It’s got better articulation and they think of it as a great example of the improvements they’ve been making since wave 1.

- E. Honda comes with the 100 hand slap effect while Zangief has his green vanishing flat hand. Guile comes with his comb.

- They wanted to make sure to get to Dee Jay soon because they know he was a white whale for a lot of collectors from the SOTA days.

- Reiterates what he said earlier in the year about how they wanted to get all of Ultra Street Fighter II done first as a show of commitment to the fans, but after next year they’ll likely be jumping around and cherry picking from the various other SF games rather than doing everything in order. Juhn again mentions being a big fan of SF 6 but says he loves the whole series.

- No Mortal Kombat; that license is unavailable now.

I'll be curious to see if they make re-tooled versions of Ryu and Ken with the newest features, and sell them as different colors.

@redgouf I’m actually torn on Jada doing this(at least immediately) because it will feel like a slap in the face for some fans. Like the feeling of having to buy a better version of what you already have but the sculpt is the same kinda deal. And not even in  the iconic P1 colors. Some of us already rebought wave 1 with the improved paint apps. So now we gotta boil parts and do some swaps.

Now I’m not against the idea of giving the old characters new artic at all.  But it might be good to spread it out in later waves and with new sculpts for further incentive to rebuy. Like say SF6 Ryu will be sold as his normal default monk look but later they will release classic Ryu with the improved artic and pull most of the sculpt and art style from SF6, or SF5, etc.

I’m fairly neutral on the toe artic, but I am curious about the supposed improved butterfly joint. I’d actually like to see how well Akuma can do a Hadouken pose compared to current Ryu and Ken. If it is drastically improved, then forget all the crap I said above and retool current Ryu and Ken right now!!  I can be such a hypocrite sometimes. Lol.

If anything, I could imagine them doing Street Fighter Alpha versions of Ryu and Ken with updated articulation

White Gi Ken P2 variant offered in EE. Looks like he has the Shoryuken fire effect.

Akuma looks great. I'm only picking up a handful of characters, but he looks menacing enough to be used elsewhere.

I picked up the Violent Ken (as I skipped the standard) to pair with my Lightning Collection Ken and the Pink Chun-Li just for the alternate expression + hand that goes with the P1 version. Will unload the figure itself once I get it.

I dig this line enough I want to pick up that white gi Ken but I don't know if I need three versions of him - I preordered up the SDCC exclusive last week.

Really can't wait for Wave 3 though.

So, I am definitely a casual when it comes to Street Fighter and I only pick up a few of the characters I really enjoy.   Even so I’m excited for some that are coming…

Wave 3:  Guile

Wave 4:  Blanka,  Vega

Wave 5:  Akuma

I also like the news that they will then be jumping around the franchise to deliver other characters as that might hasten the chance that I could get a Rashid.     Frankly there are a ton of designs I like from SF V -    Necalli,  Oro,   Menat,  Seth;     From Street Fighter 4 I could go for Elena,  Gen,  Gouken,   Hakan

Anyway,  I’m excited to see what else Jada gets into the line.    They’ve already got me buying way more Street Fighter figures than I planned on

I feel like most collectors, namely Marvel and Transformers, are fairly used to buying multiple versions of every major character just to get a new and improved version anyways.

If any character gets flat out redone though, I need them to make an actually accurate Vega, lol.

Does another toy company have Mortal Kombat, is that why it's unavailable?  Does McFarlane have it?  I thought I saw some DC Mortal Kombat and Injustice figures from him.

McFarlane had the license for MK11, but it’s unclear if they have it for the current game too. There’s been a conspicuous lack of action figures for the new MK, especially when compared to Street Fighter 6, which was released the same year and already has multiple figures and statues.
