Forgive my ignorance if this is common knowledge, but I’m just admitting defeat and acknowledging that I’m going to be collecting these, the last thing I need is another line to collect, but I’ve heard nothing but universal praise for these, but I was curious what their plans are after they finish the SF2 roster? Is that a wrap for Street Fighter or are they going to expand into the other games and characters within? Thank you.

If you go down this rabbit hole, you probably won’t regret it. It’s a good time to jump in as Jada is right in the middle of shipping wave 2 and wave 1.2 is still available with improved paint apps.

I think the plan after USF2 roster is to go into the other different SF games.  Not sure if they will mix the waves with different characters from different SF games or if they will do themed waves like one wave of SF6 then the next  wave of SF Alpha and such.

So...  I had originally planned to skip M. Bison -  no real affinity for him from the games and never the hugest fan of the character design....   but after pre-ordering a TON of  Crimson Moon soldiers from FMF I got looking and realized this guy without the cape might fit in pretty well as sort of the beefy muscle of their squad and so pulled the trigger.   I'm so weak.

With bbts getting their stock, Bison is the first of Jada preorders to arrive before I could find one in Target.

Dammit!

Quite the opposite with me, love M.Bison, think he’s a great design, looking forward to the figure… didn’t give the Crimson Moon a second thought because while I do like werewolves, not a big military figure guy.

but you made me realize with the human pieces on they do look really close to the designs used for Bison’s soldiers…

so now I’ve got to mull over whether I need to pick up a couple Crimson Moons to be Bison’s followers

If you decide to go for it,I recommend the operation monster force crimson moon sleepwalker. As far as I can tell it's the closest in design to the bison troopers. Plus it's releasing Sooner

So, with only 5 characters left to be revealed from the USFII roster, Wave 6 will likely have the first non-SFII character. I'm predicting that as the largest remaining characters in the roster, Zangief and T. Hawk will be in separate waves, and that as the secret boss, Akuma will be the last member of the USFII roster made. Therefore the waves would breakdown something like this:

Wave 5

  • Zangief or T. Hawk
  • Balrog
  • E. Honda

Wave 6

  • Zangief or T.Hawk (whichever wasn't made in 5)
  • Akuma
  • ???

As for who would be the third character in wave 6, my guesses are:

  • Chun-Li (Alpha) - distinct and popular (even more so after it's inclusion in Fortnite) look for one of the faces of the franchise
  • Ryu (Alpha) - not as distinct as Chun-Li's Alpha look, but still a look people would want. Would pair well with Akuma
  • Sakura -Arguably the most popular character introduced in the Alpha games
  • Juri - Arguably the most iconic post-SFII character
  • Luke - Face of the current game

Anyone else thinking anything different?

I've been really busy with work and haven't kept up as much on the toy news as I'd like. Has there ever been a release date (or approximate quarter or pre-order date or anything) for Vega? That's the one I'm chomping at the bit to get hold of right now. And maybe Guile.

I haven’t heard any official word yet, but most likely there will be more solid announcements at SDCC. I think Vega and Sagat were already being produced after the last Jada announcement.

I forget but did Juhn mention the Guile and Cammy wave would be the last wave this year? I also found it odd that Jada would say not to expect all figures in a wave to come out at the same time.   Like the figures in each wave could be staggered weeks or months apart. That just tells me they still are struggling with production/distribution.

OK... so with those lists for Wave 5 and 6 can someone help me with the existing wave lists.   The staggered releases, the re-colors, the variants...   it all has me a bit mixed up as to what to expect as a wave

Wave 1:     Ryu,  Fei Long,  Chun Li

Wave 2:     Ken,  M. Bison,  Dhalsim

Wave 3:     Cammy, DJ,  Guile,  Vega   -   it's moving to 4 figures in a wave?

Wave 4:    ????

Deluxe Wave is Blanka and Sagat?

Or is it

Wave 3:   Cammy,  DJ,  Sagat

Wave 4:  Guile, Vega,  Blanka

I saw a You Tuber suggesting that waves were moving to 4 figures each and that Blanka and Sagat would be in a separate "Deluxe" Wave for larger figures.      But if that is accurate then what is in Wave 4?

I think the second option is more likely with the waves staying at 3 figures each and each of the waves including one larger figure.

But given that Jada hasn't actually been shipping things in "waves" anyway,  maybe it doesn't really matter.

All solid guesses. I'm sure Akuma will get an inevitable Shin Akuma repaint as some sort of exclusive too, maybe next year's SDCC offering.

Jada’s definitely brought up the idea of deluxe figures before, which I’d have to imagine Zangief, Sagat, T. Hawk, E. Honda, and maybe Blanka would be a part of.

Guile is almost certainly in wave 3, right? Feels like him, Cammy, and DeeJay have been announced for SO long.

Thanks for the update. Or lack of update. Weird to be not paying attention this long and have also not really missed anything.
I do remember the staggered figures thing. I don't believe that's a struggle with production or distribution, though. I think that has more to do with using the same factory as some of the bigger boys. So you might get a slot, but the factory only has time to run one figure before they need to go and do another run of someone else's products. So it's more just that Jada is a smaller company and they don't get the A+ treatment from the factory that a Hasbro or Mattel, or even NECA, might enjoy. So if the factory can only get one figure done, then needs a 3 week break to do something else, then can come back and start your next figure - that puts those two figures months apart from each other with one of them just sitting and waiting for the other. Why not just release it?
That was my understanding, at least. Makes sense to me.

Oh I agree with that and understand that it’s possible that Jada could be in that predicament. But the struggle part I was alluding to was more of them switching to the new factory after dropping the old one but still trying to play catch-up. I’m thinking they are still producing wave one even though they are already smack dab in the middle of wave 2 because the old factory could not keep up with the numbers and quality. This new factory may be bouncing back and forth with the production between wave 1 and 2 and still gearing up for wave 3. I think that’s slowing things down a little.

That said, personally, I’ve seen an improvement in distribution of wave 2 compared to old factory wave 1 figures. It’s not ideal but a little better. I’ve seen 6 Red Chun Li and several Bisons and Dhalsims at the Targets that usually get SF by me. They don’t last very long on the shelves but last I checked they were being restocked at least every two weeks.  Old wave 1 from last year was like a couple of months apart before a Target would get a restock.
