I just rewatched the 86 movie. I forgot how weird it was. The story pacing was odd. And it felt like just a long 80s animated music video. The animation was still pretty good considering. It wasn't anything super amazing by today's standards, but it wasn't terrible like some old shows. I was especially surprised that they swore a couple times. And that they killed off basically everyone people liked. But I read that it was a lead up to the new time period and new team, and they basically were making an hour and a half long toy commercial for their new stuff coming out. The Dinobots had more screen time then I remembered too. But it was like 30 years ago when I saw it last so my memory of it wasn't great. And I like how Snarl was actually only in it when they did screw ups in the animation. Like he wasn't supposed to be there, but the animators forgot what they were doing and added him in a couple blink and you'll miss it scenes. Also, Hasbro really doesn't have an excuse on the weapon front, by not giving the SS Dinobots both swords and guns. There was basically 1 shot through the whole movie where they were in robot mode to begin with, and only 2 of them had guns, Swoop and Grimlock. So there's no excuse to add the other weapons besides cost cutting. I didn't even see Grimlocks gun on his back in dino mode. They didn't draw it.

It did however give me a better appreciation for Hot Rod and Kup. Also Leonard Nimoy being Galvatron was fantastic.

I also remember something, maybe it was back on the old boards before they died, about everyone liking and wanting Coronation Starscream. But uhh, that whole scene with him like that, Coronation and all, was like 5 minutes tops. And he got fried after he got crowned anyway lol. That wouldn't be on my short list for figures from the movie. I may have to try and track down that Rodimus Prime now if he's not super expensive though.

There are some great interviews out there that discuss how that movie was made and how some of the decisions were made.

Still the best Transformers movie released to date.

Any word on Swoop yet? He should be coming out in a couple months I thought, but I haven't seen anything on him.

With Comic Colors Grimlock coming and having the extra swords there goes the absolutely fantastic make up Hasbro could have done idea. I mean it was right there for them. Make Swoop, he’s Voyager size essentially with wings that make him bigger. Incorporate the four swords into missile attachments and bam all the Dinobots have swords. But no. Buy it 3rd party or buy another Grimlock Hasbro says. Sheesh!

I bet with recolored Grimlock coming out we don’t see Swoop till end of year.

Sheesh. Welcome to Hasbro I guess if you’re new. It is nice for a Grimlock offering again for those that missed him. Same for Shockwave. That severed Optimus head is a great big tease. It was also a traumatic visual for me as a kid. It didn’t quite hit me robots can be disassembled and reassembled. I just saw Prime’s head on a pike essentially.

I’m thrilled to see Gears coming. Wonder when the reinforcements two pack with the much promised Hound will come? Spring. April probably as everything is scheduled for April it seems.

Thwipp!

He's shown up in the Target system, so he is coming.

Leaked listings for Studio Series show SS86 Bonecrusher, Mixmaster, Scavenger, and Scrapper (and also Perceptor), so it looks like the Constructicons are the next combiner! Really hoping they come out as nicely and as faithful to G1 as the Stunticons did.

Did studio series Ultra Magnus ever hit retail?  I’ve never seen it anywhere.

I think Megatron's robot mode will look even more like the animation model, but it's still going to turn into a tank. Maybe he'll include a small gun version of himself as an accessory. I can't imagine any other way of doing it besides making him a non-transforming robot, which the line ain't about.

Tank ALT Mode with a gun accessory is what I was thinking too.

So I ordered Blaster, but I'm not particularly impressed with him. I mean, he was already a good figure, but with SS, I expect a little more retooling than he got. SS figures tend to have fewer greeblies and tech panels sculpted all over, leaning into that anime aesthetic more than the mainline. This looks like the same figure with a new deco on the chest panel. Ah well, I'm a big enough Blaster fan.

I'm such a chump, I'm buying him for the non-translucent Eject. 🤣 Hopefully I can sell him with the translucent one for cost (I prefer the original Blaster).

Wonder where they'll release a non-translucent Rewind... (I LOVE Twincast - the mold was already great, but in blue, it's even better!!)

Found Scrapheap today, so I grabbed him!

They're building up slowly, but surely. Though I was already out of room in my display with two of them, haha. Dunno how I'm fitting a third, let alone more, but I'll figure something out, I guess.

Same Walmart had their Spikes on clearance for $6, so I grabbed one despite not really wanting him initially. "Transformation" is obviously not much of anything, "alt mode" is as terrible as I always thought, but I was pleasantly surprised at the relaxed stance he can take. I dig him.

Seeing pics of Swoop wasn’t going to convince me to buy him, he’s an automatic lock sight unseen. But it’s good to finally see he’s a physical toy now.

Also, Pulse is already getting ready to ship Blaster and the Autobot 5pk. Unbelievable how this stuff all hits at once.

So Swoop comes with Grimlocks sword, and non removable rocket launchers on his wings. Thats... odd. He looks nice over all. But the choice for weapons on these have been puzzling.
