BBTS is doing a sale, and core Rattrap is up there for $7. I had to get it at that price. It's Rattrap. That's awesome.
Hell, get two.
Lol, I already finished the order. I don't need 2. I was thinking about tracking down the 2 pack with Primal before the sale came up. Literally just like the day before actually. And Amazon wanted like $18 for him single or something. I wasn't paying that for a core. But I'll do $11 cause of shipping. And I don't think the core one is much different then the 2 pack version. And neither is Primal from what I can tell. Just maybe shinier? So this will work.
Amazon proper finally dropped the price on commander class Armada Optimus Prime to regular 99.99 so I pulled the trigger Monday night, with free overnight delivery. By the time I woke up Tuesday, it had again dropped to 80. So I ordered again, at like 5am, and by 6am, the first order already arrived. The second order arrived this afternoon, but I'll be returning the first one at a Whole Foods drop off.
The figure itself is pretty impressive. I don't have any attachment to Armada, never got the originals. So this is a first time experience with this version of Optimus. I prefer the larger version, as the basic robot has a weird low crotch and lanky arms. I'd prefer to display it this way battling Megatron, but the combined version is undeniably cool and generally just looks better. Proportions are still a bit odd, with slimmer arms and chunky legs. But I dig it, and it looks good with the other Legacy Armada figures in the line.
I got Rattrap in the mail from the BBTS sale. I remember why I didn't pay full price for him now. He's not awful, but he's definitely basic. Makes sense since he's a core figure. The previous one has better sculpting and paint, and colors. But it's too big and has a hard time standing because of the feet. This one is more in scale with what he should be and poses a bit better. They both have their flaws, but I'm ok with owning it. Glad I didn't pay aftermarket though. These shoulders annoy me. And his rat mode can't stand on 2 feet well like the old one. The tail isn't posable at all. But that stuff isn't dealbreaking.
Finally found my Bombshell. Then, 30 seconds after opening realized there was no gun. In lieu of a weapon I got a 2nd warning slip. Some lucky bastard got 2 guns. I hope they don't choke on it since they have no safety slip to warn them of the dangers. Sad thing is you can't even complete the transformation without the accessories, so I'm not done looking for Bomby yet. Sigh!
I got a processing soon notice from BBTS for Tigerhawk. He's pre sold out too which is interesting.
86 Frenzy and Bombshell are going to get more releases in 2024 right?
Thwipp!
BBTS just threw Tigerhawk in my PoL. Ima ship him by himself cause I really want him and I'm not sure when anything else I have ordered is coming out. I just hope he's not a big letdown. I was pessimistic about Dragon Megatron but he actually turned out really good, even without vac metal. So I'm hoping Tigerhawk is the same way.
How quick do yall think Fortress Maximus will sell out in places once he is in stock? I am newer to collecting this line, and not sure how how the reissues are for Titans and such.
Wishing I got back into it a bit earlier after hearing about some reissues that happened that I missed.
I randomly saw Shrapnel last week at Target. Thought he was long gone at retail, so that was a happy find. Right now hoping I cam score Breakdown somewhere at retail. I got 3 of the Menasor bots from Target in those cheap 2 packs they did for Christmas time, so I just gotta get Breakdown and Motormaster
I got Tigerhawk in from BBTS. I must say, it's unfortunately kind of mediocre. It has some ups on the old one. But it also has some glaring flaws that keep it from being amazing. It looks more show accurate, but then they made the wings and some other pieces brown or grey for some reason instead of white, so it's not show accurate. It's also smaller. The back feet which are the hawk talons are ridiculously tiny, probably to accommodate them for the robot mode. The robot feet are also too small, and the backs of the robot feet stick out way too far when in beast mode. I actually pulled them off (they are easily removable) and he looks better in beast mode, but it makes it a little harder for him to stand in bot mode, because he has less support in the back for all his weight. The tail feathers are always raised, they can't lay flat on the back end like the old one. They also have this weird notch in them, I haven't figured out what its used for. It doesn't connect to anything in either mode. It's just, there. But the paint is good, the joints are all really solid, and he's easy to transform for a Leader class. He looks really nice, and hides his robot parts better then the old one. Not to mention he doesn't have any springs, or gimmicks, so he poses better. But that also hurts his wings, cause, as I saw before he came out, they didn't close them off. They're open on the bottom side. They would probably say it's to allow you to pull out his feathers for "swords," but it's just them cost cutting. Odds are gap fillers will be released by a 3rd party, if they haven't already, but I don't wanna have to pay more for a figure I already paid $60 for. That's why I didn't buy any of the extra stuff for the SS Dinobots either. Just way too much to have to buy gap fillers and weapons they didn't include.
So honestly, it's a mixed bag. I like the look and colors of the old one. But the new one is more accurate, at least sculpt wise, and poses and stands better. The new ones tiger head actually kinda looks more like a bear, where the old one actually looks like a tiger. Plus the old one has painted teeth and a moveable tongue. So I'm debating. I may end up keeping the old one in the main display with the rest of my BW figures, and put the new one next to Dragon Megatron. I have him seperate so I can display him in all his Dragony glory without anything blocking his wings or tail from being spread out. I have T Rex Megs in the BW display.
Also, there's an old T2 figure I saw that I kinda liked that I didn't know existed. And they apparently made 3 different versions. His name is Ramulus. And they made a Redish one, a Green one, and what looks like a brownish one. The Red and Green both look really cool. And the red one isn't super expensive on Ebay. So I may end up buying him in the near future. I think I also may wanna get a T2 Sonar. She looks nifty as well. But my BW shelf is full af. Like no room, at all. So I'm not sure what I would do with them.
My Animated Optimus is out for delivery.
I have Prowl. I'll get Bumblebee eventually.
But man, I am SO excited for this figure.
First NECA TMNT Archie, and now G1-styled Transformers: Animated - my preferred canons are finally getting my dream figures (though, to be fair, I DO have the entire non-con-exclusive line of TFA).
Snagged Shrapnel from Krogers, the only place I've seen him show up. His head is ridiculously impossible to turn with how tight it is and the kibble surrounding it preventing a good grip. I'll have to disassemble him to file down that peg-grip.
Too bad they didn't make his gun like Man-E-Faces:Snagged Shrapnel from Krogers, the only place I've seen him show up. His head is ridiculously impossible to turn with how tight it is and the kibble surrounding it preventing a good grip. I'll have to disassemble him to file down that peg-grip.
Lol that's cool. Say what bad shit you want about Mattel (I know I do). But they are really smart sometimes when it comes to certain things, like that Man-e-faces.
