I think the death knell for this line will be when they do another wave of toy color figures: Tygra, Panthro, Slythe, Jackalman. It'll complete the core team and most of the mutants. Hopefully they finish off the Lunataks before that.
but beyond the fact that I don't think Brian cares about the 2011 cartoon, I'm pretty sure that would require an entirely separate license from the one they currently hold - which would require new negotiations and new contracts. I don't think it's in the cards at present.
On an interview with We Want More Thundercats, the interviewer brought up 2011 and Brian said something like they could do it, but he doesn't know if anyone wants it. The interviewer said people want 2011. From what I remember Brian went on to (probably) joke that they could also do Thundercats Roar figures.
Who knows, though... At one time Super7 thought they owned the Silverhawks IP.
Brian Flynn does not give a flying f**k what anyone wants, so it's rich he'd say that.
Thanks to an unexpected reveal of preorders by some Canadian e-tailers (including my local one DJC Collectibles in Ottawa) we now know that this year's SDCC exclusive is Ghost Grune who will pair nicely with Ghost Jaga (if you have him).
I like the look of it and if the actual product turns out as well as the pics it will be a fun looking figure. Preorders were taken down so pics are floating around out there somewhere.
Pics are posted at TNI I believe. I'm on the fence about Ghost Grune... not sure how necessary that one is to the old collection. I already have two Grune figures in the display - one as Thundercat Grune with the Tcat symbol and two full fangs and one without the logo and with the broken tooth as the villain. Do I need a third Grune in ghost form too? I'll probably end up getting it, but I think the invisible D&S Sheila figure is more compelling as an SDCC pick up.
Hachiman incoming at BBTS! This is the last Thundercats Ultimates figure I have preordered.
Still waiting since I ordered the whole wave - but it will be soon enough. I'm excited for this batch. Some good stuff this time around.
Hatchiman, Alluro, and Shiner hit my PoL just now.
Yep... the entire wave 4 just landed in my POL too. Now I have to decide if I have the patience to wait for King Conan to hit (he's gotta be close) before I ship or not.
BBTS listing still says WilyKat and Chilla are expected to land in May (seems unlikely) along with Subotai, Valeria and BotM Conan, but waiting for those seems like a fool's errand.
@panthercult Looking like July for the next wave per Super7's pre-order status page...
Interesting, since that has the Silverhawks metallic repaints showing up this month - but BBTS still shows those for June.
Also interesting is that King Conan is on that list as "delivered" but BBTS still has him as pending. Must be dropping soon to my PoL
Received Hachiman from BBTS today and he is glorious. Solid sculpt and fluid articulation. Crisp paints, good offering of alternate hands and head plus a swappable chest with and without crest. Wish the helmet was removable but it would have compromised the sculpt, so two heads is fine. He can double hand grip the sword easily. The two swords appear to be identical and the electric effect is removable. I'm keeping the other sheathed at his side through the belt loop. I also noticed the hip barbell is thicker than usual, and that overall, he feels very sturdy. Just a really nice figure, and a great way end this collection for me. Maybe I'll cave on some other peripheral characters if I spot them for really cheap, like Willa, Snowman, and Captain Cracker.
Yeah... that Hachiman is glorious. I love the masked head so much and that is how I plan to display him. But low key I'm hoping he's another one that will end up getting marked down so I can get an extra or two. He turned out so good.
Getting him made me cave on Snowman. Waiting for a lower price on Willa. I’ve already got Mandora, but having her and Hachiman really made me want to fill out the Thundercats’ allies.
Super7 has been so quiet lately on the Ultimates front for Tcats, Hawks and Turtles. Are they slowing down?
By my calculus there are still quite a few vintage toys, Lunataks and fan-favorite cartoon characters to get to. There are easily enough for another 5 waves, more if they continue to include LJN-color repros.
