@ashtalon Their engineering is sooo amateur, and I can't understand why they won't improve. The head/neck have so little articulation and the Snarf tail is just another notch in their lack luster modeling belt.
If a company like Jada ever got this license I would be floored, and at the same time incredibly disappointed with myself for buying these.
C'est la vie.
I can't understand why they won't improve.
I really want a larger range of motion in the joints; 90 degrees should be absolute minimum. But I don't hate that they match so well with my MOTUC figures. Small consolation for current collectors who didn't get into that line, but it works for me.

Yeah... the honest truth is that while the articulation could be better and more useful on most of these figures, I don't tend to use them in extreme poses and don't spend a ton of time playing with them where the ROM limitations are a huge factor. And I do LOVE that they match my MOTUC collection - that is actually the most important factor for me. So overall I'm still happy enough with the line that I'll keep buying. Still hoping I'll be able to add some Tiger Sharks and then maybe eventually Blackstar too - that would be incredible.
Thanks for the heads ups on Snarf's mediocrity. I still have him in my cart but the coupon is gone, so he's full price. Will never purchase at that price, but if it ever went down to 20 or lower, I'd bite just out of morbid curiosity.
Just waiting for Hachiman. I bought a TF Ultimates Bludgeon for him to fight. He can also hang out with Mandora outside of my main display because I just don't have room anymore for the side characters.
Starting to question if I want/need Alluro & Chilla...
On one hand, not sure how much steam the line has left, and if they will get to all the Lunataks. On the other hand, I don't think I even want all the Lunataks.
The ones I am absolutely sure I "need" are Hachiman, the kittens, & Snarfer.
I would like Safari Joe, but no dice on him yet...
See, for me the Lunataks are super high wants, in part because they never existed before in the Vintage line, whereas Safari Joe was always by far my least favorite figure because he just looked like a weirdo dressed up as a boy scout troop leader and that made no sense in my spacefaring animal people story. Willa and her tribe dressed like "savages" and I could buy that - but Safari Joe's whole deal just never made any sense to me. I honestly don't think I'll order the figure when Super7 gets to him.

Do you have action figures that do have the ability for extreme poses, but yet you choose to put them in standard poses anyway?
The reason why I ask is because maybe you don't put these Thundercats figures in extreme poses, because you can't actually do so due to their limited articulation. It's potentially a chicken and egg situation essentially, which comes first, your choice of poses for how you like all your action figures to be, or the limited articulation comes first and you just kind of make-do with whatever the figures actually let you do?
All of the figures that I have, don't really allow extreme posing, and so as a result, I am forced to have a lot of them just sort of standing there.
Do you have action figures that do have the ability for extreme poses, but yet you choose to put them in standard poses anyway?
Yes - I have plenty of figures with lots of articulation and I tend to pose them in more vanilla stances because I have ALOT of figures displayed and dynamic poses take up way more room than blander poses.

It's interesting because I wonder if you can potentially get great poses from poorly articulated figures if you are able to get transparent flying stands that can help support your figures in poses on one leg or jumping in the air etc. to stop your figures from toppling over.
The main problem is finding where to buy those types of stands, and I don't know which type is best.

Hasbro's modern Marvel Legends articulation is great for dynamic poses and toy photography, but the biggest advantage is that I can put them in a range of vanilla poses and know that they're not going to topple over in the night. A lot of that comes down to proper ankle & foot articulation and flat feet. Thundercats are pretty limited in dynamic poses, but they're super stable in vanilla poses because they have the ML style ankle articulation.
Was Marvel Legends the first to incorporate the disc ankles with the angled foot swivel so that you can keep the feet flat as the hips of the figure widen?
Got Snarf earlier this week after ordering him from Amazon. Was discounted to around AU$78 which honestly was my ceiling (retail for these would be around the AU$100 mark) and really should have waited for a lower price.
One of the biggest rip offs in this line. Expect that we're paying a premium because Super 7, but Snarf is not worth the price of a regular figure.
In comparison, I got the Pinnochio back when that was released for a similar price. Felt like MUCH more value. Not sure why, perhaps more accessories, perhaps just overall care that went into it. Snarf just feels so bland, not really thought through and accessory-wise is severely lacking.
Snarf himself is an accessory to me. At worst, probably should have been a 2 pack with Snarfer. But S7 know people will want to complete the team.
I'll get over it. They've done it before (MOTU Uncle Montork and Dree Elle) which at least was a 2 pack but was insanely expensive for what you get.
Totally agree - honestly, the last several waves from Super 7 have been a bummer in that regard. Lots of tinier characters with no break in the price. Snarf at $55 full price was a tough pill, but I swallowed it because there was no upcharge for Ratar-O who was a bit bigger. But then full price for each of the Thunder Kittens, waves that are half repaint, and the most recent wave which was translucent Mumm-Ra (repaint), tiny Lion-O, Snarfer (tinier than Snarf?), and Quick Pick which is like half the plastic of a normal Ultimates figure.
And it's a bummer - they gave us two of the Lunataks - but then pivot to this cheapness. I get the other Lunataks are bigger (except Luna) and maybe more involved , but stop focusing on only tiny characters at the same $55 price tag man.
The next wave will be telling about how they plan to move forward. I get that they've now delivered all the cats. Do they start including re-issues of the main cast in each wave for 'new comers'? Do they plow ahead with deep cuts until sales drop off too far to continue?
From the vintage line the only characters we still won't have Ultimates of are:
Tuska Warrior
Safari Joe
And then the companion
Berbils: Bill, Bert and Belle
And then the action feature type guys:
Driller
Stinger
Cruncher
Ram Bam
Top Spinner
So it has me wondering.... how deep do we think Super7 is really planning to go? I'd be super bummed if they stop before finishing the Lunataks. That would be cruel. But what else are people hoping to see to keep the line alive? Clawdus, maybe?
I'd make room for a season 1 Hammerhand. That's how I always visualize him and couldn't be motivated to get the younger looking crop-top version.
I agree with what is being said. It seems the last announced waves have had a high number of small characters and repaints.
My hope is they complete the Lunataks at a minimum. There are lots of others I wouldn't say no to - like finishing the Berserkers, Jagara, Cladus and others... I like the vehicles they have made, even though they are priced high - wouldn't mind a Skycutter and Nosediver (although they need to give an alternate Slythe head for nosediver looking straight up so he can rid it properly).
I was thinking they could also pan out into the 2011 cartoon characters since they will have run out of main characters from the 80's shortly, but I'm guessing that is probably a smaller audience than the 80's cartoon and I'd like to see them at least finish as much as they can here before thinking about moving on to another era.

See, I would really like this because there's a lot of interesting characters to mine from that iteration of Thundercats (Leo, Panthera, Dobo, Shen, better Clawdus, Caspin, Tygus on and on) - but beyond the fact that I don't think Brian cares about the 2011 cartoon, I'm pretty sure that would require an entirely separate license from the one they currently hold - which would require new negotiations and new contracts. I don't think it's in the cards at present.
