Eh, I'll just have to play the waiting game. Ultimates aren't worth $55 let alone double that.
I bought the collected Thundercats series on DVD off ebay. Been working through the episodes. Haven't seen this show in forever. So of course, it's piquing my interest in some figures like Snarf/Willa. I'll definitely hold off for some more sales and price drops though. I'm completely fine with just the main TCats and mutants, which I already have. Actually, I need to source Vultureman, who I apparently didn't preorder.
Pulling out the Ultimates I do have, and it seems powered up Mumm-Ra now has rather loose hips. They're not flopping around, and he can stand. But if these hips have already loosened in a year (or less than), I hope they don't get even worse.
Got the arriving soon emails from BBTS for the Snarf wave.
And now they've hit my PoL! Just asked to ship so hopefully I'll see them next week.
Snarf and Ratar-O hit my PoL. They complete the line for me, but at same time, I kinda want to cancel them and wait to get them for $20 on clearance later. Money is tight. 🙁
Got the Snarf, but honestly he's just there for completion sake and can hang out in a box. The Missus made me a little felt Snarf a while back, and I'm not trying to replace him on my shelf.
After this, it's just the Kittens and I'm done with Thundercats. I probably wouldn't say no to a Season 1 Hammerhand or a Luna/Amok 2-pack, but I won't promise to say yes.
Have to imagine a new wave will be revealed very soon.
love this wave, especially Mongor
With Snarf arriving on Monday, I can finally call my ThunderCats line complete. 7 or 8 years to get 10 figures is wild. Between the drama of the SDCC release and the uncertainty of the line post Mattel, this was an exhausting line to collect. With the exception of some Marvel Legends teams, I think this is the longest time I've invested in a line. I'm glad I stuck it out, but I'm also glad to not have to think about it anymore.
I missed out on the Mattel stuff so I'm pretty stoked to finish the main roster by end of the year.
I love the cartoon accurate style of these S7 figures, but that's not my preference generally, and the articulation is not good.
My one fear is that another company will get the license and make better articulated figures that better match my Neca and Marvel figures in aesthetic. I just have a feeling these wont hold there value well, considering they are "Made to Order"
I don't think you have a ton to worry about in terms of someone else getting the license and producing better modern Thundercats figures. No one seems to have been clamoring to do anything with Thundercats for awhile.
Mattel was running out of big name Masters of the Universe characters to sell and so came up with Thundercats Classics to try to tap the same vein with main characters - and that was on the heels of a recent cartoon update and a dud of a line of classics from Bandai with the brand getting a push.
Now, with no fresh media push it's hard to see any toy company falling over themselves to take on a retro license like this that would invest in better articulation with sculpting similar to NECA and Marvel.
I suppose anything is possible, but it doesn't seem likely to me unless there is some new media that resurrects the brand.
Wave 7 is slowly trapsing across the country courtesy of Fedex. Should have it Wednesday. Unlike most, Snarf is probably one of my most wanted figures. Grabbed a Thundertank for $100 off from Amazon. Got a box on my doorstep a few hours ago big enough to hold my medium-sized dog! I have no idea where it will go but $100 off. My Mattel Lion-O has a nasty scrape across his face and the paint from my Mattel Pantro's nunchucks stuck to his hands and peeled off the weapon removing them from his hand so I ordered the S7 versions from BBTS also while they are still available. It's the V.2 Super 7 Panthro. He has corrected pants out of the box correct?
Jesus, how do you swap Mongor's head without drawing blood? This is some of the stiffest, sharpest plastic I've encountered in a long time.
@andru Nice, thanks!
The Thundertank is incredible. It's kind of a Holy Grail item for me, an animation accurate and in-scale version of the vehicle. I had the LJN toy as a kid but this is what I really wanted as a 7-year old! I'm hoping Cat's Lair does go to Amazon too so I can do the same. That I have no idea where it will go but I need it too!
