@panthercult

“We do wish list a lot here.    So I hope you get the Thundercats product line you want.   Unfortunately, it sounds like even if they made the product you are asking for,  you probably wouldn't buy it because they will charge more than you want them to. “

Yes thanks 👍🏼I hope we all get some cool stuff we want.

That’s not necessarily true.  There’s several factors that would and/or could affect my decision.
I would just like to pay less money. I dunno why this is a notion someone would wrestle with?

It may seem unrealistic or naive to you.

(How many things have seemed that way in the past?)

But lots of things that used to be one price are now at another for various reasons.  I do hear there’s new management or some sort with Super7.
 I’m not certain of the details so I won’t comment.

However In the past, in other industries management has adjusted things like price, or quality. Or quantity or whatever.

20,000 modular homes?

brand new pickup trucks for 8-15K?

you may pigeonhole it as naïveté.

Other folks may have the opinion that you’re just not thinking outside the box.

🤷🏾‍♂️

I sincerely hope your optimism proves prophetic and Super7 finds a way to give you what you are asking for at the price you are seeking.

I would love to see companies reverse the inflationary trend by rolling back prices.

And we have seen Super7 try to mitigate price in one of their other spheres.   Their "Deluxe" figure line - which utilizes molds they created for their $55 Ultimates line and re-runs figures with a much more basic pack out for a significantly lower (37% lower) price     So who knows...

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the new product is, but I think the only thing I'd be interested in would be 2011 Thundercats Ultimates.  I don't think I need the 80's figures in another scale; I'm content with the Ultimate scale and hope they'll at least finish the Lunataks there.  They are probably running out of 80's characters that will sell OK and can only really go a few more waves.

If they do the 2011 Thundercats I wonder if they will do them with more articulation...  When they did the 2003 Turtles, Bryan argued that later properties need more articulation.  I know it was just b/s, but they should be consistent with their b/s.

Entertainment Earth has something for Super 7 Thundercats listed in their drop zone for November 19th.  I'm assuming this was what Brian said was coming on November 30th and maybe he had his dates wrong.

The tease reads: "No matter which Earth you come from, these exciting action figures are a blast from the past you won't want to miss!"

My money is still on o-ring figures.

@quietclaws Thinking more about it, I wonder how well the 2011 characters would sell.   While I liked the show and the designs I don't know that I would care enough to spend Ultimates money on them.

Also the show didn't last and the toys, as I said before, got clearanced out pretty badly so I wonder if the line is popular enough to warrant the resources needed to sell them again to us.   Maybe with Super7's low production numbers they can get by with an Ultimates line for 2011, but I wonder.

The 2011 series was hit or miss for me. I liked some of the redesigns, like making the Thunderkittens actual children, but big, hulking Panthro is an absolute no.

I do remember when Mattel first announced their Thundercats line, though, and was absolutely ready to see how they'd mix in the designs from the two shows like how they blended lore from the 80s and 2000s MotU series. I was so excitedly optimistic back then...

So,  I'm someone that actually really liked the 2011 cartoon.   Not all of it was perfect and some of the changes felt weird -  but I really loved the ancient lore with Lion-O's ancestor on Mumm-Ra's ship and those associated characters.    I really liked the expanded Tiger clan members,   I liked the doberman based characters and the bird people.    There was an elephant based tribe.   That stuff was fun.   I wouldn't be mad if they classicized a lot of that and mixed it in Ultimates.    I don't have a lot of hope that will happen, but I would enjoy it if it did.

@panthercult Agreed about 2011. That was actually a great show that ended too soon. That being said, I'm already not really a fan of the tired old MOTU buck for ThunderCats, and I think it's far far less appropriate for the 2011 designs. Those deserve their own molds. But if that happened, I'd check it out. I bought a bunch of the ones that came out when the show was on, but they were not great figures and didn't last long in my collection.

Spero may have you covered there.

Yeah... those Bandai figures were... not good.     I think I still have mine in the recesses of my garage somewhere.   I meant to off load them and never got around to it.  Sigh.

Yeah,  maybe.    I haven't been a huge fan of those Spero figures thus far.   I wanted to like them and I just couldn't get there.   Too cartoony in the faces and too bland in the costume detailing, or something... I don't know.   Maybe... maybe with the elephant.    I think I still have one or two of my old 4Horsemen Seventh Kingdom Elephants somewhere too, so.

So it IS a faux vintage line that brings Thundercats into the original 5.5" MotU format. First offerings are Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, and Jackalman. Akin to their "As seen on TV" aesthetic for MotU. The full wave is $90, so I guess they're $30 apiece. Expectedly pricey.

@normdapito Yep.

Easy pass for me.   I like the look of them, but not enough to pay $30US (probably over $40Cdn with the current exchange rate).  Also I was kind of hoping there would be one "curveball" figure in the first wave.    I know, I know the big names need to go first to get people interested.   Especially after what happened with their Simpsons line.  However I still could hope.

Now to wait and see what Mattel is going to offer.

If they had MotU Origins articulation, then I’d be in, even at $30 each.

@normdapito Same thought. I was about to preorder them then noticed the shoulder, then the elbow, and then was like ohhhh, these are NOT MOTU Origins level articulation. I'd overpay for Thundercats with MOTU Origins articulation, but not for something so limited.

Yeah, kind of relieved.   Those are a super easy pass for me.   Not even a little bit tempted.
