I wonder how the light up eyes work... If the light is just in the head or if it's in the body and somehow piped up. I'm also wondering if the regular heads are interchangeable with these heads.
It looks like LionO has a new torso here, unless it's just something with the render.
Mumm-Ra's chest is lit in the one render; I wonder if it will do that or not. It doesn't mention it elsewhere so it's likely just for the render, but I was thinking if the lighting is in the body and piped up through the head it's possible it could light up.
I don't really need another Lion-O or Mumm-Ra, but these look pretty cool so I'll probably get them.
Are they exclusive? Robo said everything Super7 revealed will be up later everywhere as usual. Maybe I missed distinction, but I don't remember him saying "only the D&D figures."
I do kinda want both of these, haha. But my budget needs me to focus on characters I don't have, and to be patient getting them one at a time, so I wouldn't be able to get either for awhile...
So, as with all things Super 7 - "exclusive" is a word loosely applied. So far the only exclusivity that has applied and meant anything is BBTS exclusive or Super7 Store exclusive. Anything that has been Convention "Exclusive" has always been easily available from Super 7 (and often BBTS and other e-tailers) after the fact.
Obviously the mileage can vary depending on the size of the product run and the popularity of the item - but I wouldn't worry overmuch about instant sell outs being a factor.
The light up eyes gimick isn't enough to get me on these new Lion O and Mumm Ra figures. And honestly the translucent Grune doesn't really do it for me either this time around. But I think I'll be skipping these.
I talked myself in to Ghost Jaga - that made sense from a storytelling standpoint from the show as a recurring thing. Same with speed glow Cheetara and invisible Tygra, I even pulled the trigger on the color change "frozen" Lion-O, but these ones are just ... meh.
Well, for me, I don't have a Super7 Lion-O, just Mattel.
I'd still want the accessories with their first one, but this would kill that bird for me, especially if he comes with vertical hinge grip hands (looks like it? my eyes are getting old).
Oh for sure - if you are in want of a Lion-O this can be a good one.
I already have two of the Mattel Lion-O, at least two of the Super-7 regular Lion-O (probably three or four actually - extras for customs when they got cheap), red costume Lion-O, frozen coma color change Lion-O, and I have kid Lion O coming. So this one doesn't feel like too much of a need. But if I didn't have any of the Super-7 Lion-O's this would be a good one.
Is there a big difference between the Mattel LionO and Super7 one?
There's an interview here with Brian Flynn:
They talk Thundercats fairly early in the interview. He confirmed it's a new mold for the light up eyes Lion-O that "fits better with the current figures" as the line has changed over time.
Mumm-Ra's chest lights up as well as the eyes. The mechanism is sort of a push down on the head and it clicks on the light, push again and it turns off. He said the batteries are replaceable, but take some work - whatever that means.
When they were talking about the 5.5" Conan, Brian said Thundercats in that scale were a possibility. I personally don't know if I'd be interested in another scale now that Ultimates has come so far I think I'd prefer to just finish at this.
Off topic, he said the Tiamat is probably ended up around $300-350. I think it's cool, but I'll probably pass at that kind of price point.
I only have the Mattel Lion-O and he really doesn't match the aesthetic of the rest of the line to me so I'd like to get a new one but I don't know if these light-up ones are the way for me. When not turned on he is just going to have dead eyes. I wish they had included another head with painted eyes, but I guess that would take the wind out of the sails of another potential release on this new body.
I don't think I'll bite on light-up eyes Lion-O. Looking closer at the figure, I don't like the chest. Something is just off with it. I have the Mattel Lion-O. And have been tempted by the first Super7 one just for the accessories, but I've never pulled the trigger. I'm a little disappointed they didn't take this opportunity to make Mumm-Ra more grey instead of blue. I feel like he was greyish in the cartoon, but S7's figures have been blue (they did the same thing with their Silverhawk Steelheart and Steelwill). A color variation of the skin may have made this figure more unique and not feel like the same old thing once again.
These are up on BBTS now, $84.99 for Mumm-Ra and $64.99 for Lion-O.
One of the things I've been excited about is piecing together the "Treasure of Thundera" from the show. The trinkets that were lost and had to be recovered were the subject of many episodes, so it's been fun putting it together...at least, until I see Mumm-Ra here at $84.99 and coming with the Chain of Loyalty. I have no interest in either of these figures, but I do want that piece of the treasure. Damn.

I like Lion-O's new proportions here. He looks more on-model than the Super 7 figure, but I can't justify getting him as I'm not a fan of the light-up effect. I like the glow in the dark idea a lot, though.
But yeah, I'm in the same boat as I want those extra accessories! I also like the half-opened eye on the sword. Fun touch. Guess I'll wait and see if anyone parts theirs out on ebay or something...
Just went to BBTS to ship my pile of loot and noticed I accidentally canceled WilyKat when I canceled Chilla.
This sucks.
🙁
Just saw the "new" Lion-o, whatz the difference though, just the light up eyes??

My understanding is that the body is an entirely an updated sculpt. All new tooling.
Had been sitting on Snowman and Willa and just got around to opening them. Willa is pretty nice. She can draw her bow and hold an arrow in it, even with single elbows.
