With another wave of 2k3 figures coming in the winter, I wonder if that means we won’t be doing the alternating waves with vintage after all.  I suppose they could squeeze one in but it seems unlikely given the large gaps they’ve had lately.

Those 2003 turtles are looking better in person, but they're missing enough detail to tempt me. In an interview Kyle and the other designer were saying that if these sell well and people like them, it could lead to the vintage designs getting this updated articulation scheme. So ya'll need to buy them, ok? Then we can get some updated vintage figures that may actually be fun to play with with some quality articulation.

Also, what are the odds that they actually deliver a Heavy Metal Raph? Doesn't the playmates getting all pissy thing mean they can't do those designs anymore? So that would also mean they won't complete any of the turtle variant subsets they started and for whatever asinine reason, didn't release them in 4 consecutive waves.

@karl_space the Playmates thing started before they solicited both Classic Rocker Leo and Rapper Mike. If those two, plus Punk Rock Don, are in play then Heavy Metal Raph should be safe. Those designs also existed outside of the Playmates figures which has been the lane Viacom has allowed them to operate in. Though ultimately they're at the mercy of what gets approved so someone changing their mind is all it would take, though I'm thinking Super7 would not have gone down this road if they didn't have the okay for all four brothers in that style. Then again, this is the company that thought it bought Silverhawks outright so maybe I shouldn't give them that much credit.

I'm not worried about the vintage-inspired line just yet. They only showed a silhouette of what's to come for 2k3 and that was what Nickelodeon chose to spotlight. If Wave 7 is on its current schedule, we'll soon only have two waves outstanding for this line which means the next wave could go up fairly soon. I'm guessing September and the second 2k3 wave December.

SDCC items are up on Super7's webstore. Only ReAction and the glow-in-the-dark Scumbug are left. Mikey is listed as sold out, but more surprising is the Party Wagon is too. I wonder if it really sold out, or if they found a retailer willing to buy them all. I have not seen one person across social media, YouTubers included, who said they bought it.

And the perpetually delayed Wave 7 was updated on the tracker. Previously, it was scheduled to ship mid-July and deliver to customers sometime in August. Now it's scheduled to leave the factory in mid-August and ship to customers in late September.

I’m starting to wonder if I’ll have my Triceraton in 2024.

Also, I read elsewhere that Super7 confirmed that there won’t be a vintage wave before the next 2k3 wave.  Apparently the Rat King redo wave was supposed to happen between the two 2k3 waves but it got shuffled for whatever reason.  So the next vintage wave isn’t going to be for awhile.

tldr: Super7 continues to be a gigantic disappointment

I was holding out in case NECA did 2003 but since they just revealed they're doing 2012 I jumped on these.

Wish I could hold out for discounts like you can in the US but they don't happen as much here and I don't want to miss one of my favourite versions of the franchise.

There won't be a wave in-between. The second wave of 2003 revealed at SDCC is labelled as Wave 13 on the slide.

Well, that certainly is annoying. So maybe we get to complete the rock n' roll turtles in 2026. Great planning, Super7!

Yeah, it's hard to be excited for these when the "pacing" of releases is so friggin' off.

I like them a little more in plastic form. I still think the value kind of blows since they don't come with much, but I admit that I do struggle to think of what else they could come with that I'd actually want. I think I'm going to give these guys a shot, I just hate that I really like the extra heads. I'd prefer to preorder through BBTS since I know they'll take care of me if these suck.

I don't struggle with what else they could come up with at all; a better price point.

I agree. I’m not as openly upset about them, but they are disappointing figures for $55. I recently acquired a few I didn’t have for roughly $22 a pop and I’m loving them. If these retailed for $40 (like the Biker Mice figures) I think there would be a lot less complaints.

You don't even have to think it. It's provable. The figures originally retailed for 45 dollars and there were a lot fewer complaints about objectively -worse- figures, and a lot more hand-waiving the problems by saying 'well, x and y and blah blah and they're a little expensive but this isn't outside the realm of issues I expect from this price point and they'll get better and blah blah.'  People were tripping over their own dicks to make excuses for Super7 at 45 dollars. I think at 55 and now 65 dollars, even their supporters don't have room, and they know it, to defend problems and therefore quiet down the dissent.

@theknightdamien True. I paid like $40 for each of the four turtles initially and did some mental gymnastics to justify it. I think it hurts even more that the Nacelle figures are now at Walmarts for $30.

Rocker Leo arrived today.

I have justifiably shit on Super7 aggressively and often, and will likely do so again. But that is not this day.

Fellas... guys... chums.. pals. If this was what Super7 came out of the gate with, I would have probably been one of their strongest and most ardent supporters. If they'd cleaned up their stupidity within a couple of waves and my beloved favorite Turtle figure ever - Sewer Samurai Leo - had turned out this good? All would have been forgiven and I would have been a Born Again Super7 defender, extolling their virtues to anyone that would listen, or couldn't stop me from talking.

Rocker Leo is pretty much all I want (and can reasonably expect) from a Super7 figure. The articulation is tight and functional, the figure can support its own weight in various poses and doesn't wobble around or leave me concerned for any reason, the sculpting is great, the paint is great, the colors chosen are spot on, and the 'modern additions' are very good.

I legitimately, unequivocally love this figure. I mean, it's not perfect. I prefer the back of the vintage toy vest to this one. The wrist pegs are still that level of skinny that makes me very nervous, and the head was so tight that when I heated it up to remove it, the neck peg actually came out with the head at first. But these are minor things and haven't, as yet, actually caused any problems. And if the only change from the vintage toy is on the back of the figure where I'll never really see it anyway? Pfft.

Don't get me wrong - I've been burned. I'm still so miserable over what they did to my Sewer Samurai Leo. And even for this, I think the figures are over-priced by a good 10-15 dollars (or more, for the figures they arbitrarily slap higher price tags on). But this? This is a great figure. It's -as close- to being worth the price of admission as a Super7 figure is going to get these days.
And if this was the quality Super7 was actually known for, I wouldn't really ever have much reason to criticize them except over the minor quibbly stuff. In fact, this being the norm for them would leave me comfortable calling myself a Super7 fan.

I almost NEVER say this, but Super7 did a great job here and deserves to be told they did a great job (not that they ever read my rambling diatribes). Never let it be said that I only stand on the pulpit when I'm mad. This figure is great. I hope they get to Raph, and that all the music Turtles are this good.

I am glad to see that KD likes the figure as much as I do because I wasn't sure if I was blinded by nostalgia. It really is a great figure and I have enjoyed messing around with it ever since I got it and finding new guitar poses to put him in. Rocker Leo is one of those figures that reminds me why I like this hobby so much, because its mere presence in my life makes me happy. Now, if Super7 could only put this much love into all of their figures they would be a good company. And I'm still holding my breath on Punker Don, another vintage figure I love because it was just do damn absurd. Playmates selected Donatello as the punk rock turtle? And he has a keytar?! It's so damn absurd that it's genius. Don't let me down, Super7.
