The more I scrutinize that pic, the more I am completely certain those are cartoon-based, and not toy-based.

I wouldn't be surprised if they come with toy heads like they did with their first 4 waves of Turtles.

2003 Turtles have been shown off. Going up for preorder today. As a kid who grew up on them of course I'm getting them. Just nervous this will be Super7's introduction to double joints with this wave.

For those who haven't seen them yet:

My thoughts are still mostly mixed. Some stuff I like, some I don't. I think the shade of greens in use works, I mostly like the portraits, the extra heads especially look nice.

The things I don't like may outweigh what I do like. The proportions are bad. Their legs are way too short. Whether it's stills from the show or promotional art for the show, basically all of them feature the turtles as having legs that are longer than twice their body. These are closer to 1:1 between leg length and torso+head length and it throws them off. The group glamour shot gives the impression that this is also an issue that can't be "posed away."

I do not like the shape of the plastron. They have man boobs. The show and promo art is also inconsistent when it comes to the shape of the plastron, but I definitely prefer the more tapered look of the art vs how it often displays in the show. Even still, that pectoral shape is off.

The accessory count is pretty poor. Each turtle uses the same body and has the same hands and yet the tooling budget is such that we can't get much in the way of added stuff? Donatello gets some goggles while Michelangelo gets spinning effects. Leonardo and Raph get nothing. No 2k3 Mouser? No spinning blades? How about swappable belt parts with weapon storage for Raph and Mikey? Or more style posed hands? On one hand I'm fine with not getting a bunch of ninja stars I'll never use or mutagen canisters out the ass, but some imagination here would have been nice. Instead, everyone gets a Shell Cell few are likely to use.

$55 a piece, so at least they aren't being upcharged for no reason beyond the typical poor Super7 pricing. I don't know. I like the expressions and I think they'll look okay in-hand. No other company is likely to tackle 2k3 TMNT anytime soon and that is probably the best selling point Super7 can hang their hat on. I'll have to mull this one over.

The '80s Turtles are "my" turtles, but I always liked the 2003 toy designs the best, at least for the four Turtles.  They look close enough to the '80s Turtles, similar skin-tones and proportions, just less goofy.

If the Super7 Turtles looked like these, I would have been interested.  But these Super7 figures are not for me.  They have unique skin-tones, but they don't line up with the '80s toy colors.  The body proportions look way off.  And the gritty look of the 2003 toys that I like is gone from the Super7 figures.  I guess these are good for people who want the 2003 cartoon look, but I never watched that show, so I'll be skipping these.

I think I'll preorder these. I've never gotten anything from Super7 because it seems overpriced and NECA was always a better value. But in this case, they're making something NECA hasn't touched yet so I'm interested.

May change my mind down the road, but who knows. We'll see if I can afford this closer to release date

With playmates releasing the 2003 figures again, sure seems Super7 will be sticking to the cartoon versions only, so I won't be holding out any hope for toy colours or head sculpts, at least for the next few years.

I'll pick up Leo to give them a trial run, but I'll also be interested in seeing reviews first. As others have mentioned, the proportions are more stocky than the animation models, but I don't think they look too bad when they're posed.

If the articulation is actually useful and increases posability and makes for a fun figure to pick up and Mrs around with, I'd love for S7 to adapt this body to a vintage show/toy style (more detail, veins, etc) that would basically be an update to the original figures we got. Against all odds, I will feel like they're the company who can deliver the best vanilla, mix of all media versions of the brothers..

Is Super7 done with the 80s toy update waves?

Why do the bodies look wrong?  Either the legs are too short or the arms are too long? Or both?  It's very off putting.

That said, I wonder how long I'll hafta wait for them to do a Hun, or if I should bother with the NECA custom I was planning to do (which knowing how diligent I am with customs, Super7 might release him before I even start on said custom lmao)...

I believe Brian said a while back that it will alternate between 2003 waves and original toy waves.

They are round and squat compared to the animation that draws them as being taller and leaner. The legs are too short and the torso too round.  Their bodies should be more v-shaped, wider on top and taper in as it goes down. These are more tube like with straight sides.  The legs are also rather shapeless. The sculpt is rather soft and should be a bit sharper.

They aren't terrible, and if they were $30 to $35 like your average NECA figure I think they would be a nice addition.  As they are now, at this price point, I don't think I will bite as much as I would love them for a turtles forever dislay.

I should point out that the designs for the turtles changed from season to season because you know...they aged. but also the animation just became more streamlined as time went on so by the time the show got to Fast Forward or Turtles Forever, the turtle designs were just night and day from one another. These particular designs are based on how they looked from seasons 1-2

I mean even if you go to seasons 1-2, these aren't correctly proportioned.
