Vac-metal joints or bust
Vac-metal joints or bust
Oh, bust! I didn't know we could vote on 'busted joints.' I pick that one.
In a bid for innovation, I’m predicting they give them that hideous MMPR ab crunch. “You’ve never had turtles that could do this!” It practically sells itself.
I generally agree with what most of you have been saying about selling figures with two exceptions.
1. I do think it would be understandable if someone was upset that something they bought that was advertised as a one time only opportunity was reduced in value because the product was later re-released. The company lied to the consumer to get that sale.
This only applies to situations where the company explicitly says “this is one of 500” and it will never be offered again. Super 7 TMNT was never like that, the company merely implied the figures might never be available again to drive up their preorders.
2. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to buy an additional figure because it has a higher implied value or perceived rarity. I’ve never sold or traded anything, but I have bought more than one of a couple figures. I did this because they were exclusives I preordered two of in order to meet the minimum for free shipping. I figured I could keep the second one in case something is wrong with the first, because I’m unlikely to see the figure again. If I didn’t need it, I could likely sell it later
I do think it would be unreasonable for me to get angry that the value of that extra Moon Knight I have sitting in a box somewhere is worth less because of the Target rerelease.
Also: Thanks for letting me know that Usagi wasn’t coming from this line. Bought the NECA samurai version yesterday to fill that gap.
@supreme_d To be fair, though, I don't think anyone has disputed either of your points. Quite the opposite - companies should be catering to their customers. If you're going to say 'this is a numbered piece and will never be offered again' - that's very different from 'we usually don't re-issue figures.' Also fair to point out that, just for example, a lot of companies will make very minor changes to re-issue figures to make sure they're just different enough that technically you can easily still claim to have 'the first set.'
Only worth noting because it does prove, when companies do that, that they're not -entirely- ignoring the rarity complaint.
And definitely no one is saying there's anything wrong with buying extras of figures for your collection because you just like that they might be rare or whatever. I'm not going to claim to necessarily understand the mentality - because I could not give even the smallest of fucks how rare or common a figure is - but there's nothing wrong with thinking that way.
I mean, obviously, assuming you're not draining the supply of figures in your town, shoving over children to take 'rare' figures out of their hands, etc etc. Naturally. But just.. having multiples because you want multiples of a certain character or figure? Literally not a single problem with that.
So I'm hearing no bets on double jointed elbows coming to 2003 TMNT, any takers for double jointed knees?
This sounds fun! If I was a bettin’ man, and I had $100 to wager, here’s how I’d break it down:
$0 on Rumor was false, Brian is still the big dog (ruff ruff!)… I’m sorry, if the leaker is who I think they are, yeah, he’s been right too many times to brush this off
$10 on Leadership change is a new development, 2k3 Turtles were developed and sent to Viacom for approval under Brian so no obvious changes yet.
….also gonna place an additional $5 bet on this one that the figures don’t beat the spread (which in this case means they use one of the bad factories and neck pegs snap when think about swapping heads and they can’t stand worth shit.)
$2 bet on Viacom approval of renders and all that came during Brian’s reign, but the employees who have final say now will release “updated” renders after the pre-orders close showing new articulation, unaware this violates truth in advertising laws since they still seem to think “render shown, final product may vary” is an optional tag for their solicitation photos.
$7 on Brian approved renders, no changes able to be made to articulation, but employees do what they can to make changes based on factory samples so that when figures come out good, Veebs tells Brian in his monthly suck off video “wow! This latest wave is one of the best yet! why are you so handsome and popular?!”
$10 on wave is canceled since the ULTIMATES! Turtles you can buy for $30 if you wait for a Daily Sale at Big Bad are already sort of the 2k3 Turtles.
$5 on new articulation scheme including and possibly limited to double knees, but because it takes time to build relationships with factories it’s still sent to a bad one and they’re very very bad figures.
$3 on new articulation scheme including and possibly limited to double knees but growing pains cause them to have weird unfortunate aspects (like the unfinished elbows of the Biker Mice) that mar the final product.
$5 on new articulation scheme but it’s still Super7 so the figures are still incredibly mid, like if you like Super7 you’d say “these are their best yet! Amazing!” but it’s not going to get any fence sitters watching reviews to plunk down $60 a piece.
$1 on figures have an amazing new articulation scheme (better than Mezco?!) and turn out incredibly well (better than NECA 1990 movie?!)
and I take the remaining $52 and buy all five waves of Silverhawks ULTIMATES! in Big Bad’s next daily sale.

I didn't click on it, because I thought it was an April Fool's Joke, but I saw a YouTube thumbnail with Brian's pic with the words "Brian's Out" or something to that effect, lol...
This is apparently the SDCC exclusive. Typical lazy Super7 effort but I guess exclusives shouldn't be too exciting.
Except, yeah, that's what exclusives should be.
Something fun, but not necessary.
I loathe the companies that make necessary shit exclusive.
I wonder how much they're charging for a chef's hat an apron and a figure everyone who collects this line has already, in a pizza box package. My guess is $75

This part made me laugh. I keep waiting for the figures to dip under $30 for me to pick up extras... a few of them are close right now. Hoping if I wait just a little longer I can grab the fodder for the price of a Marvel Legend.

$149.99
Some site had it up for 62 bucks. Will it be available on all kinds of sites like their exclusives normally are? I know it's lame, but I still kinda want it.
Super7 historically never sells out of it's SDCC "Exclusives" and they are typically pretty widely available after the show. I wouldn't panic. heck the frozen Lion-O from two years ago is STILL available for $55 at BBTS right now.
