@misfit

That's right.  Man, I totally forgot about that. LOL, we've all literally discussed it right here on this thread.  Thanks Misfit.

Looking forward to reviews of Wingnut & Screwloose and Scumbug. Wanna see if they’re worth the extra beans, let alone the typical full price of 55. I imagine Wingnut is way oversized like MonStar and BuzzSaw. Those two are $22 on EE right now.

Yeah, I'm curious to see if they've got the loose hips the larger figures tend to get hit with...

Figures, the one figure in this entire line I'm the most excited about (Punker Don) gets delayed ad infinitum...

Look on the bright side.. there's still hope for you. The one figure I was most excited about was Samurai Leo and he's literally one of the worst figures in the entire line, if not the worst.

@ben  Bang on as to why Super7 doesn't seem to send out many review samples these days. I mean, to be fair and also balanced, it never made sense that they did at all. It's supposed to be a 'made to order' line, right? If you're watching an in-hand review, you should theoretically already be too late to get anything. And if they're relying on partners like BBTS needing the help to move a few more units, then the reviewers could review the figures when they're out for everyone because places like BBTS will still have their stock.
So the review sample stuff never made any sense unless, like me, you are just jaded enough to see it for what it is: PR. Giving freebies to people with platforms so they will cheerlead for you.

First images I’ve come across of the latest wave. I think Donnie turned out great from what I’m seeing. Wingnut and Scumbug look just okay to me. I don’t like the choice of colors, but maybe they were forced to differentiate from the Playmates look with the darker brown and purple.

Man, Donnie looks awesome! One of the few vintage figures i still have and easily one of my favourites when I was a kid. Can't wait for this one, hopefully my order from EE won't take too long

Ugh, g**d@mn*t, Playmates...

Hell, Scumbug's paintjob is just so terribly applied, it looks like Playmates did it. 🙄

I’m not seeing what’s so bad about Scumbug’s paints?

Same. And I'm saying this as someone who's probably not even gonna buy him. To each their own I guess (unless we're missing some inside joke)

It's not the paint application, the purple is just wrong and it throws the whole color scheme off.  Someone on another board compared it to the Ace Duck mistake and that's dead-on.  The original colors for these were carefully considered and balanced to work really well as a cohesive look.  Then Super7 derps along and just calls it "close enough!".  They almost messed up Slash (and seemingly Wingnut) in the same way but thankfully those darker colors aren't deal breakers.

To me, Scumbug just looks too dark. The overall paint app doesn't seem bad. It seems perhaps a little sterile considering how gross the design is. More wash and grime or even some gloss in certain parts would have really made him look gross, but I also don't want to judge the figure based on one image on Twitter. The darker skin tone on Slash works for me, personally, so I'm not opposed to change as philosophy, but here I don't think it looks better. I don't know that I'd consider it a deal breaker, the price already did that for both Wingnut and Scumbug for me. And the NECA Scumbug turned out so well that I'm not feeling the need to get another, even though that was one of my early favorites as a kid.

Hm. I don't think those are differences I'd notice unless I was looking at the figures side by side. On Slash, the original was a favorite, so I know a lot more of the details by heart, like the belt, but I didn't realize he had a darker skin tone than the original. I didn't have the original Scumbut, my cousin did, but I'm not in or out a this point, based on those cosmetic changes. He looks good to me, but the higher full price is still a deterrent. Wingnut also got an even higher full price, but he looks massive too. Again, not one I had as a kid, so not one that I'm eager to have today. But if both of these figures got a significant discount, I'd probably bite.

The eyes look good, but there is something off about the rest of the paint on his face.

It's either Photoshopped or painted extremely simply. Like I did it, and that's not a compliment, lol. It looks...off...especially around the mouth/teeth/gums.

I don't know how else to explain or show what I'm seeing, but I just got my eyesight tested, and while not as good as in my 20s, it's still near-perfect, and nothing else looks odd or "wrong" on this monitor.

I think Donatello & Screwloose look great. Heck, I think most of the rest of Scumbug looks fine.

But there's something weird with that face that is throwing me, and I don't think it's just the shade of purple.

The only issue I have with the Scumbug is the lack of sculpted curled up insect arms on his abdomen. That was always a glaring omission. I feel like I'm the only one who ever noticed this.
