My wave 8 just arrived (took ages from EE to finally ship, but hey, I basically got Shredder for free).
This is the best feeling wave we've gotten. None of the shaky hips are present on any of my figures, joints are tight and everything feels good right out of the box (no mug baths this time). All the hands also have the right amount of rubberiness for gripping accessories even. Wave 6 was a big improvement, but this is at a whole other level.
Genghis is a must-own for this line.
The Fwoosh First Friday with Brian Flynn went up today. There's some Turtle Talk in there if you're interested in hearing the approach to keeping all of the stakeholders happy. The usual Brianisms are present too, like boasting of a high sell-through rate? Maybe on stuff that isn't Ultimates, but definitely not on Ultimates.
@misfit Yeah Chuckled at the high sell through rate bit lol Not that high if I can buy a made for order line on deep clearance. Maybe sell through is better now that retailers aren't buying extra units but that's not really a good thing for them.
They SOLD them to the retailers. That's all that really matters. The retailers aren't accepting them free of charge and paying S7 when the items sell. So his "sell through" comment might be right in a manner of speaking, just not how most people would see it.
LoL I liked the insinuation that his products are going on clearance because retailers are overburdened with product from other companies - nothing to do with his lines at all...
I'm not sure 2024 is going to be a kinder year. There's a lot of supply on the market from all avenues, and the COVID collecting boom is pretty much done. Wallets are tight, it's turning into a buyer's market. I'm probably going to bring in about 1/4th the amount of figures next year than this one... I just have so many good representations of characters that I care about, and only so much room.
I do appreciate hearing some business perspective though, even if it is Flynnafied. A lot of interviews about characters and design and product promo etc out there, but hearing what it's like to produce, market, distribute is really fascinating.

Frankly, he should be embarrassed that most of the Turtles Ultimates didn't sell out after being offered for a month below $30 with several being offered below $20

Did you also get the NECA Toon Turtle Van? Really looking forward to seeing some comparisons.
I got my van yesterday. It's pretty darn cool.

'Right in a manner of speaking but not how most people would see it' is a VERY politic way of pointing out that Brian is a fucking liar that does nothing but vomit spin every time he opens his mouth. I used to find him very personable and even though I knew he was not being entirely honest, he was charismatic enough that I could still enjoy listening to him.
Now? It seems like he's just gotten more and more dishonest and I find that I can't even tolerate his voice anymore. Just for a while I'd like to see him shut the hell up and just make a good toy. Thing is, he wouldn't even have to lie so much if he put half of that effort into making his toys good. But it's way easier to go on softball vidcasts where everyone tells you how great you are and sits quietly while you lie and mislead, I guess.

I did not get the NECA version. Much like Transformers, I'm a Toy-guy vs 'Toon-guy, so the Super7 was the way to go for me.
Honestly I'm kinda that way too. I'm tempted to get both. But the S7 version was significantly more expensive, so that's how that choice was made. I also prefer to support NECA as a company.
Both the NECA and Ultimates versions of the Party Wagon and Toon Turtle Van look great, but when it came down to it I just went with the relatively recent Playmates animated movie version that I found on sale for $32. LOL! It's just going to be in the background of my display anyway.
Right now, Slash is available on EE for a meager 12 bucks. If you don’t have that one, it’s definitely worth that. No idea what it will cost to ship it though, but clearly the deep discounts on this line aren’t over yet.
My Party Wagon arrived - I think it might be too big. I have no clue where I can keep this thing.
