I stand corrected. What Playmates actually learned is to lie more in their promotional images.

So it’s really the vintage Technodrome coming. Amazon added images, but who knows how the final product will differ.

Yeah, I hope it's the same size as the original and the same overall mold and design.  More like how they did when they re-released the Party Wagon, and NOT how they re-released the Blimp.

I never had a Technodrome, so I don't mind if it has some changes.  At least it seems to be the original mold.

I don't think we can really count on the images to tell us anything, but it's Amazon so it's an easy gamble IMO.  I don't think I've ever even seen a vintage 'drome so I'm quite excited.  I just wish they'd post a ship date!

@captaincracker Toyhabits is saying it is a bit smaller than the original.  Apparently the original was 15" and this new one is 13.5"

I don't know if that is true or not, but it could be they had to do some new parts to make it again if the mold was lost, damaged, whatever.

Wouldn’t that mean remaking pretty much every single part?  Like I said earlier, I’ve never had one but just looking at pictures it seems like making the shell smaller would require making everything else smaller as well.  That doesn’t seem like a Playmates type of effort.

The base is different from the original which may be why the height is different. Like @canprime said, it's possible they don't have all of the original molds. It's a subtle change, so anyone that just wants a vintage style Technodrome will probably be content while the babies on socials worried about their originals getting devalues can shut up now.

Comparison pics between the box images make it look like the "same" Turtle figures are bigger inside the new one, though. And I've seen enough comparison videos to know the rerelease figures are the same size as their vintage counterparts.

Then Playmates has the cojones to make a post about the "gigantic" toy. 😆

This Technodrome is smaller than the original as was anticipated, and some things are painted different.  But then, there are some improvements which you can read about if you click the instagrammers name on toynewsi that is highlighted.  it will take you to Instagram where he has a read up to the side.

Things like the Scrambler now has an actual belt instead of a rubber band, the trap door has a handle to lift it back up easier, and the jail cell walls actually snap into place.

Those improvements are -nice- and all, but that smaller size makes it even more...awkward to use the figures don't it?

It feels like it very well should.  Being smaller, it should be tighter fits and harder to maneuver some of the play features and actions.  it even says you need the Retro re-release of Krang, which is smaller, to fit and work with this playset.  Apparently the vintage Krang is too big.

It looks like the Retro Toilet Taxi will be a Target Exclusive.  It looks pretty much identical to the vintage one.  The Pizza Thrower is coming too, but I haven't seen any pics of it, and I don't know where or when it will be sold.

I don’t think I can go crazy with rebuying every vintage vehicle reissue at this point. Those take up a lot more space than figures. I’d much rather get more figure reissues.
