For now, just a look at Shredder Drac's packaging, maybe a reveal later? https://twitter.com/preterniadotcom/status/1895841884209033363
In the course of this video, they unveil three new unseen figures in this line:
And they're awesome.
That Krang\Metaluna Mutant\Robot Monster figure will be a buy if it gets released.
"If it gets released"? They're talking about how many more they've already got done, I don't think they're showing these off as some kind of "maybe" release.
And that Krang is the best figure in the whole line, I'm really quite taken with it.
Can't edit posts with the way the board is right now, so just wanted to add that I'm thrilled they are widening the paramters of this line, both in terms of outside strictly movie-based characters and more than just the big Universal monsters. I have some wish listed things I'd love to see that stretch it even more, but the further and freakier they take this line, the happier I'll be. That two-headed Turtle is more or less an original, and I'm glad.
Dracula Shredder looks inspired and it's nice they put so much effort into it. It just does nothing for me personally. I think the Metaluna Mutant Krang makes the most sense and the brain theme suits it, I just have no connection to that monster in particular. The Two-Bad/Cyclops Donnie & Mikie are my least favorite of the three but I think they would fit in well with Igor Leo in a science lab of some sort. I'm hopeful what was said previously about doing even more is true, as I'm still holding out hope for a Dracula Donnie, otherwise I'm painting FrankenRaph's mask purple, and going with WereRaph for my Raphael and using a custom FrankenDonnie, and I'll just forever be missing a Dracula turtle. The 4 turtles really are what stand out to me. The side character just don't grab me the same way MummyMike, CreatureLeo, and WereRaph did. But these are all very well detailed and creative.
That Metaluna Mutant Krang is crazy. I don't collect this line really so I'll just admire it from afar. I can't imagine it's going to cost the same as the others. Dracula Shredder turned out as well as it could, sort of like Phantom Casey. I might get that one, but probably not.
I like the Shred-Drac, but I'm not feeling the other 2. They're too far in the opposite direction of what they've already done. If they ALL had that kind of look, I might still have collected them, but I'm just not feeling those two.
Man, I'm kinda surprised and obscurely disappointed to see how many people don't seem to be feeling Krang and the 2-headed Turtle. To me, they're head and shoulders more interesting and fun that the other figures, among the best things NECA's ever done (especially Krang). I guess I just dig the more out-there stuff a lot more than is the baseline for the fandom? I hope this line continues in that vein even harder, and I really don't mind if they start to go more original than concrete as far as the mash-up monsters go too.
This particular line is not for me, but even I can see they really went all in on the Metal Luna Krang and two-headed Turtle. They each almost have a boutique quality to them. So much love went into them.
The line probably needed to move off of Universal Monsters at some point, which it's basically doing with the two-headed turtle. Mixing the turtles with more generic concepts of monsters could prove fruitful, or it may end up being one and done. It's certainly a clever shortcut to getting another version of Mikey and Don out there.
