Not having Toy Fair is a problem, NECA really doesn't seem to use much but shows to announce product. So I guess SDCC is where we find out about some of this stuff for now.
Well boys, we got ourselves a new Wal-Mart exclusive! And one that's easy to pass on unless you really love black and white or are a completist. I am a consumer whore, m'self, so I will get this:
They're neat, but I'm already falling out of the practice of picking up the regular Universal stuff in B&W so I'll stick with color for both lines.
Don't need it thankfully, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Dracula Donnie sometime before Halloween. I hope, I hope, I hope.
Super easy pass.
I keep giving Walmart my money as I go store-to-store in search of the MOTU Krang, get annoyed with leaving empty-handed, and wind-up buying something else. Today it was Wolfman Raph which is a pretty cool figure and one I intended to buy eventually, but had yet to get around to. One question for those who already have this figure - did it come out of the box sticky? And if so, have you attempted to remove the stickiness? I see online it's recommended to use baking soda and water to clean old plastic, but I don't know if that applies to painted plastic. It's definitely an unpleasant, handling, experience to have a sticky figure right out of the box. Usually, this happens much later in a toy's life.
WTF...
Best Buy has a listing up for Shredder as Dracula, but it's not active yet. No pics:

Rats, I really would have preferred a Donnie as Dracula, as I really dislike the Invisible Man as a "monster" given that it's more of a "power" to me and he's in full control of himself, whereas the Monsters seem less so. I guess I'm gonna be painting the mask on my Franken Raph purple now, as I much prefer Raph as the Wolfman. I honestly don't know how you play up a vampire's fangs (it's major characteristic) for a guy who's main character design is wearing a large face-obscuring helmet with mouthguard. I'm sure they'll have it removable and he'll have pointed teeth or something, and obviously he already has a cape, but I wasn't that impressed with Splinter, and I doubt I'll be that impressed with this one.
The human figures have all been kinda lackluster so far, and yeah, Splinter was basically just cosplay. I know some folks are mad they doubled-up on the Turtles themselves, but honestly, that's where the interesting design possibilities are. I kinda wish they were all Turtles.
@cmoney I thought I had already posted this but turns out I posted it in the Last Ronin thread for some reason. Now I have deleted it in shame.
Deepest apologies. I've got enough shame to cover us both!
@jtmarsh maybe they'll sculpt the fangs into the faceguard like a relief? I'm thinking along the lines of Mortal Kombat's Reptile in the first movie. In general though, I agree, the humans in this line have been far less interesting than the monster and turtle mash-up (Splinter was pretty weak too, but he wasn't a monster as well). I'm guessing there will be a Donatello x Metaluna Mutant mashup as well. It makes thematic sense since he's the brain of the group.
I think it'd be fun to double down on a Dracula theme and have Raph as Morris, Casey as Harker, Leo as Holmwood, Donnie as Seward, April as Mina, and Mikey as Renfield. Though that'd not really be a "Universal" specific crossover at that point.

I know, but the Metaluna Mutant and Invisible Man always struck me as "side" monsters, not one of the major ones. Back in the 80s when Doritos and various other companies used to include the free 3D glasses with their products so you could watch the monster movies around Halloween, it was always Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy, Dracula and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Dracula seems the MOST necessary of an of the monsters to be fair, and for him to just be Shredder (however ornate or designed) and not one of the turtles seems like a huge "whiff" whereas I love the Creature Leo and Werewolf Raph, even Mikey makes for a decent Mummy. Dracula seemed to be the one who really needed to round out the group. Honestly, I feel like if all they did were the 4 turtles and omitted April, Casey, Shredder and Splinter, it'd probably be more fun as you could make your own "dream team" of TMNT Monsters variants.
