@cmoney

And if I’m not mistaken, TMNT Neca stuff wasn’t in last year’s Summer Geek Out Event. The Online Releases took place after the Event, specifically for Ultimate April, Ultimate Bonafrog and Bugman 2 Pack. Of course, it could change for this year but considering this years Haulathon Event ended like a month ago, I wouldn’t expect anything from TMNT to pop up. My wallet at least could use a break lol

Wasn't there also a Fall Geek Out? So the event happens like 3 times a year, with NECA usually showing up in the Spring and Fall but not during the Summer.

I think last summer the TMNT product got held back for the release of Mutant Mayhem, but I don't remember the dates for the Geek Out thing. Since Target didn't list any companies everyone is basically in the dark. It could be a big ole bag of nothing and just Target trying to drum up interest for existing stock of collectibles. That would certainly be nice. Blaine, who usually responds to inquiries on Twitter, hasn't confirmed or denied NECA's involvement at this point so we'll just have to see. Either way, NECA unloaded a bunch of stuff last summer too so if they're doing that again this summer I suppose it would be nice to know ahead of time when the online sale is taking place.

I only get one "annual bonus" per year, NECA, and you already took it in April...

Last year's summer Geek-Out, NECA was only the final week, and here is what they had:

@cmoney Was that Summer?  I don't remember anymore. I know they go all in on the Fall Geek Out thing.  There were a handful of "leaked" items in the Target computer, so it could certainly be anything.

It was August into September, from what I found.

EDIT: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand, you're right.  It was considered the Fall Geek-Out. https://geekdadlife.com/2023/09/targets-fall-geek-out-week-6/

According to that site, there were five weeks of Summer Geek-Out last year, none of which were NECA.

I'm pretty sure they dropped Mirage Splinter, the 4-pack, and cartoon April 2.0 during the summer, June-July. I picked up Splinter from a Target near where I was tabling at a con, which was around June 20th. Not sure if it was part of an event or not.

Actually, just double checked my eMail. I bought Splinter online for instore pickup June 25th.

It looks like the darker green skin on the recent releases was not intentional on NECA's part and is more down to factory error. The reason why I believe this is because of the four giant turtles that they have released, the fourth release which was Michelangelo, has him with a darker green skin tone than the three other earlier releases, and surely there is no way that NECA would have wanted these four figures that are part of the same set, to have one of them with a different skin tone than the other three.

Then I simply extrapolate that logic to these recent Haulathon releases that don't match the other turtles releases very likely not being intentional either.

Hopefully the factory don't make this error in the future and go back to the previous skin tone they were using.

The punk Turtle 4 pack is lingering at all my Target stores which is a first for any NECA Turtles set I've ever seen.  I'm hoping these get some sort of price drop.  If it gets to the $100 range, I'd pull the trigger.

They've all disappeared around here. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Had plenty of time to grab one (though not plenty of money, or I just would've done it regardless, and then worried about selling them later if I decided I didn't want them).

Punk Turtles ain’t moving by me, but not even a price drop would get me to bite. Zero interest in that set.

Punk Turtles sold out, got restocked, sat a bit longer, but then sold out again around here.  I think there is one Target in the city that has a set still though.  I get why it would be a slower seller (it's not exactly the most action-ey version of the Turtles out there!), but it seems to have moved well enough.

Way late to the pizza party, but I ended up finally grabbing Ultimate April the other week and I am.. whelmed.

With all the praise for them fixing some of the issues people had with the first release, I think it really did manage to escape my notice that she's still fucking tiny. Given how good NECA is at this stuff, it's actually shocking how completely off-model she still is. But I also think a part of that is that NECA made the Turtles too big and it's had a knock-on effect because you're either making Shredder 8 inches tall or whatever, or you're fudging things a bit and ending up having no choice but for April to be 'too tall' or 'too short' depending on who she is standing beside. I sold my original TMNT cartoon stuff a long time ago, so I don't have Casey or Shredder anymore (yet?), but having April in hand really makes me wonder if owning the human characters in this line is even worth it because the scale must be all over the place.

It's NECA cartoon Turtles, so it goes without saying that she has tons of great accessories and overall the figure presents well on its own. In hand she definitely felt smaller than expected (never had the original April, mind), but it wasn't until I actually put her with the Turtles that I realized how dinky she is.

@theknightdamien yeah, they half-assed the new April almost literally since they reused more than half of the original. She doesn’t scale well with anyone. It’s definitely an improvement over the other figure, but definitely not one of the strong points of the line.
