@jer_

I'm happy to hear about Shredder, and I'll take any Bebop and Rocksteady they wanna throw my way. I'd love an update on those figures though (mostly cause of the hips!).  They could give those two goofballs a glorious array of accessories if they did single ultimates though.

Just listened to the interview. It sounds like Donnie's Lab uses the same wall and floor pieces as the Living Room so the only "new" parts being tooled are his lab equipment. That would additionally explain why the grime is stickers; for obvious cost savings, and to be able to place them uniquely depending on the set.

The two Sewer Lair sets together will be massive and tons of space for figures and accessories to call home, which is exactly what I want.

I do wish Veebs would have asked about the Toon City Dio and Turtle Van being reissued since there has been no word following their tease last summer or so.

It also sounds like a couple other big TMNT "wow" items are set for reveal at SDCC or NYCC, though it wasn't implicitly stated they are for the Toon line even though they were mentioned during the Toon line discussion portion.

I'm sure there's very good reasons for it, but it seems like such a missed opportunity to release Space-Don and Samurai-Mike as a two-pack rather than releasing them as 'Ultimate/Deluxe' single figures and including extra heads for each one so that, if you buy one of each figure you end up with all four Turtle heads. Or, ideally, you could buy four of each figure and make the whole set in matching costumes.

I imagine they're not intending to just make more Space or Samurai versions of the brothers. So ultimately we have to do what... buy extra Raphs that will result in having a headless Raph body laying around in a bin just to have a Samurai Raph? Or wait two more years until we get whatever version of Raph and Leo they do in this style and hope we actually want those variants for Donnie and Mikey to swap with? It doesn't seem well thought out in terms of how the customer is supposed to utilize this feature.

For these Space/Samurai/Pizza Club looks, they should release an accessory pack that's just alternate heads for the turtles. Smile, mouth open, angry, serious, scared faces/masks. 4 sets of each expression in a pack. $20-$25 a pop.

I prefer the heads from the first release even if they're not as cartoon accurate, but serious and angry expressions would do a lot for me over the happier expressions.

Wonder how those MUSK things will compare.  They certainly seem a better price value, at least.

Visually at least I prefer what NECA has done for my cartoon turtles. The MUSK sets look better suited for Mirage, Live-Action Movies, etc.

They have since shown an alternate toony color scheme, and I think it looks great, as I too have no desire for a Mirage or LA dio.

From the interview it sounds like we will finally be getting a Tempestra figure next year!

From the second interview, Trevor hints that more vehicles and potentially sewer parts are on the way.

While the MUSK does have a toon colored version, I prefer to own NECA's officially licensed product.

Yeah, the MUSK seems like it'd be a great display piece for say, Marvel Legends. It's not capturing the same aesthetic (even with the "toon paint" version) that the NECA one does.

Agreed @Detrimental_Fig. Everything I've seen of the NECA one hits the mark for screaming "straight out of the show." The MUSK doesn't, so it's not what I want.

Now I just need my Sewer Lair to ship.

I'm usually on the side of "official is better," but the plaster foam stickers look amateurish (always have, but the fact that they're foam stickers is bafflingly worse), it is far FAR too tall for my liking (just visually - not considering space in the slightest - why is the ceiling that tall? I JUST went through the show, they did NOT have the vaulted cathedral ceilings of SOTO's subway station).

MUSK is offering twice the length (though it still may be too tall, I don't remember the height), with sturdier street toppers (and the middle support people have been saying NECA's needs for theirs), WITH street dio parts for the same price. Or you have the option to get less for less.

I don't think I own anything from them, so I can't speak to quality, but I own a LOT of NECA stuff that I despise the quality of (I just got the van, and it's as brittle as I was expecting, and those door hinges are f***ing unforgivable), and I flat out couldn't afford to pay so much for so little from them. At least this is an option of either less money or the same amount for way more.

To each their own, but I don't like the elitist NECA @$$-kissing I see all over Facebook from people with buyer's remorse trying to make themselves feel better by insulting everyone else who couldn't afford it, couldn't justify it, or both.

I really REALLY love NECA's couch & chair, though. Hoping someone parts with those for not too much, lol.

No @$$ kissing from me. I'm looking at both and prefer the look of the NECA one. It costs more, sure, so I'll do the work necessary to afford it. And if I can't afford it then so be it.

re: ceiling height. I'm indifferent on that, but I can see the taller ceiling coming in handy to put taller figures in there with ease.

I do wonder if the MUSK's plastic ceiling is going to have bowing issues. They put out a pic recently of a long setup on a table where, unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, there's already bowing going on due to the seam being right in the middle, just like Trevor @ NECA said would happen if they have gone that route.

Buyers can decide which works better for them and the look they want.

It's funny, cause Trevor actually talks about how they had to go through different materials worrying about bowing on top, and that's why they went with the foam core stuff, cause it'll hold without bowing in the middle.

Trevor also indirectly references the MUSK by saying he wouldn't want to drop a ladder in the middle of the Living Room, a feature the MUSK has. Clearly they've thought about that.

I do wonder if NECA will eventually release a generic Sewer segment with water and ladder to above, two features the MUSK does have in its halves. I would personally love to see that happen.

I have no hands-on experience with Ramen Toys, but the notion that you can’t make a plastic topper that will perform as expected for such a thing is laughable. When Trevor talks about it, what he’s really saying is they couldn’t find a material that fit within their budget, so they went foamboard. Doesn’t mean Ramen will deliver, but they should be able to if they want to. You just have to use a thicker, harder, plastic.
