Yes it feels fragile, but I’m not really getting those QC issues. I don’t think the Super7 version will be any sturdier. That’s not a company I associate with sturdiness. They’ll muck up something really easy, like giving it stationary wheels or something.

See I don't think it feels fragile even. If you ram it into a wall perhaps...but it feels good IMO.

The doors do not feel sturdy at all for me.

The van itself is fine, but everything attached to it makes me nervous and I'm really good with delicate things.

I agree about those doors. I don't plan on opening/closing them much, but that singular hinge is so silly. I want to examine it further to see just how minimal it is, and if it can be/needs to be reinforced. I'm also not convinced that's a QC issue, more like a weakness in design.

I came home last night from my vacation and finally got to open the van. Pretty much echo what others are saying in that it could certainly be sturdier. Not having issues with doors sitting flush or anything, canons seem fine, LEDS are super bright though kind of odd that the internal dome light doesn't function too, but not a big deal. The hinges could definitely be better. This thing does have wheels so accidents could easily occur where it rolls off a surface and then I'd hate to see the result. I would have liked the hinge on the platform on the driver's side to be sturdier to better support the weight of a figure without having to lay on the surface. A peg hole for the feet would have been nice too. I haven't taken the roof off yet to insert one of the walls. I do wish it was easier to get those ins without having to do that, but it's probably fine. The steering wheel not turning is kind of weird too, but not a big deal, it would just make me feel better about not breaking it if it had some play when trying to get a gripping hand on it.

I think overall it is what it is. It's a plastic box on wheels that cost 250 bucks plus shipping. It was going to be hard for this to really "wow" anyone. It's a luxury good and I think it gets the job done even if it doesn't make me as happy to have it as just a good action figure in the line would. I think it's neither a great value nor a tremendous rip-off or anything. It does what it's supposed to and I'm happy to have it.

I think part of my limited enjoyment of this, is that I'm not a kid anymore. I loved the van as a kid, but I also had to use my imagination. The original lacked a few things that got fulfilled with this version. I hated how the back only had bench seats and no computer. I hated that the battering ram door didn't have a cannon. I did love how the roof hinged open, but didn't love how it didn't split down the center like it did in the show opening. And this one features ALL of that. I try to keep that perspective when looking at this piece. Yes, it's expensive. Nothing is a good value in this hobby anymore, especially big ticket items like this. But it definitely is satisfying to have a lot of those childhood wishes fulfilled. It's easy to lose sight of that as an adult dropping a bunch of cash. It does everything I've wanted and more.

It’s funny how spending $250 on something makes you see it differently. In general I see NECA stuff a put it in a pose and admire it. It’s not meant for much handling. I constantly wonder when the weapons will break or piece of a thing pops off. Three of  the NECA Mousers I have have broke. One fell on carpeted floor but broke anyway. It’s 3D Cartoon and character nostalgia. I have no doubt the engineering is ok. It could be better. It’s just not meant for it.

Pegs inside the back of the van and on a few of the opening doors would have been great, but I'm fine with it as is.

As for the wall, I didn't even remove the front half of the roof to put one in. I just opened the back roof and both side doors. Slid the chosen wall in at an angle and started with the bottom, then raised it while pressing it into place. Worked fine for me.

I'm starting to lose hope of getting my van in time for Christmas. Like many I had the tracking number for months and finally got the actually shipping email two weeks ago. In that email it had a different tracking number which when tracked, showed it going to an entirely different state from me.

I got a corrected email later but neither tracking number has ever moved. Neca CS claims that FedEx has it in hand but has not scanned it yet. I kind of believe that is a big lie. I don't think FedEx sits on packages for two weeks once they have them.

I definitely don't expect the sewer to ship in December at this point even though I have the tracking number on that one too.

@justice that sucks. I had a tracking number for a couple of months, then when I got the official email from NECA I had another delivery appear in the FedEx app, though it was for the same number. I would assume that FedEx picks up items from NECA in regular intervals (maybe every Friday or something) so if it hasn't moved it may not do so for the next few days. Just keep checking in with NECA in regular intervals.

I got the quarter scale Mikey in today to complete the quartet. He's essentially the same figure as the other 3, but the joints move better than either my Raph or Leo who have fused thigh joints. Mikey is more like Donnie and the factory was generous with the lubrication. His shade of green is a touch more yellow than the other 3 though which is kind of annoying. It's not so bad that I wouldn't use one of the other optional mouth parts though if I was so inclined (Mikey only comes with the open mouth smile and the neutral mouth). It might just annoy people who display them all together (I don't). Also, the chains on his nunchaku in the promotional images are way longer than they actually are to a comical degree. You'll have a hell of a time trying to replicate the under the shoulder pose featured on the back of the box with what's included. The quarter scale Turtle Hook is pretty cool, though the ratcheted joint on the hooked part is definitely a little terrifying to mess with since the hook is so thin.

Guess I'm gonnna be doing another Paypal pay in 4 setup to get everything before Christmas. 😛  Wee.  I had actually forgotten about the 4-pack, but that's one I definitely want...

And yeah my van hasn't shown up yet either. I know how it can be, and if Fedex is backed up (it is the holidays) they definitely can sit on stuff for a bit... I'm being patient as I can be though.

So, uh ... are these "guaranteed" pre-orders tomorrow, or just until they sell out, or what?

It’s been 14 days since I got the email from NECA that Van shipped. I think it’s a standard disclaimer of two to three weeks to ship.

The not trusting me side feels differently. It is the same tracking number since September. Honestly NECA is dragging their feet here for whatever reason. I mean I think they seem to have good cash flow and the label shows created. It’s just sucking in my crawl that it is the exact same tracking number since September. So it can’t be they can’t pay the shipping. Maybe the factories haven’t got their orders here. Maybe NECA is quality checking the product so they don’t get blasted by QC issues. Maybe it’s not NECA and FedEx is giving them the low ball service NECA paid for.

It’s discouraging.

Thwipp!
