They will likely release the van again when they release the van accessories that they have planned. Trevor mentioned about them adding some parts to the van that allow the turtles to launch out of the roof like they do in the opening sequence of the early seasons.

I am counting on this as one of the many that passed during the sale window because it looked off at the time.

I want to park it right on top of the Lair living room set.

Got the email over the last couple of days saying that the lair and accessory sets would soon begin getting prepped for shipment in December.

It looks like by the end of January, early/mid February I should have both my baby turtles and van, ready to go into their homes in the display.

I got the email too, pretty excited.  That does make me wonder if the lair is just a quicker item to produce (given it's only been a couple months worth plus packaging etc) or if they already produced a number for the sale or guestimated how many to make to be ready so quickly.

I can't even begin to guess.

Production had likely already begun in some fashion on the lair for it to be ready so quickly. Remember, it was supposed to go up for sale about a year ago. They probably tooled it and finalized it and even booked the time with the factory for production to start. It's likely all they needed was a final order number. It could also explain the surprising price tag. It might not have cost out last year when they did it so they sat on it as long as they could to secure a better rate that never came.

I was watching a PowerCon video from Modern Toyfare and when they were going over the NECA Toon Turtles on the bottom shelf was the four turtles in their standard look (not the jacketed ones), and Leonardo had a head with red eyes. Anyone know what episode that was from / it might be teasing?

I hadn't seen this mentioned, but might have missed it...

Yes, logical business reasoning. I do wonder, and will never know, how many were made. Looking forward to receiving mine.

Pictures of NECA's NYCC display is up on Toyark. Nothing new (I think) except for an interior apartment diorama that looks to maybe sit behind the street scene diorama? Big Krang isn't pictured. But it is just Thursday, they might have some goodies for later this weekend.

Randy did say at NYTF that they had a few things saved for NYCC, but I don't know if it's necessarily TMNT related.

I dig the interior apartment pieces and wonder if they're an add-on or added incentive to a street scene re-release.

Well, this turned out to be a line of bull. I don't know what it was, but Randy seemed to be a bit lost on a few things during that interview. Didn't know if things were shown previously or not, seemed unsure about other stuff. Wasn't a typical Randy interview. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't know that they had nothing new to show, as well.

I disagree, the reveals at NYCC were very intriguing indeed. Not only did we see some new accessories shown for the first time, but we were shown a set of internal sleeves that can transform the inside of the street scene diorama into April's appartment.

NECA have once again knocked it out of the park with these excellent looking dioramas!

A lot of people seem to think that the NECA turtle van is great value at $250 but the living room diorama is really bad value at $300; however I wonder how much the turtle van plus accessories weighs compared to how much the diorama with accessories and street topper weighs.

If the diorama and all contents weigh twice as much as the van for example, (which is very possible when looking at the two items' respective sizes next to each other), then that is twice as much scuplted plastic and paint for the diorama. That would mean that before factoring in articulation and lights, the van should cost $150, (half of $300). Would a bit of articulation and lights then be worth an additional $100 to take the van up to $250? I highly doubt it would be worth that much, perhaps $40 maybe at a push. So if the diorama is bad value at $300, then the turtle van would be equally bad value at $190, yet people think it is great value at $250. That doesn't make objective sense, if indeed the living room diorama and contents are roughly twice as heavy as the van.

The van at the end of the day is just a smaller box on wheels with all six sides on it and some front seats and a small wall divider inside, compared to the diorama being a much larger box with one of the six sides missing, but then being filled with many accesories and pipes to make up for one side being missing. The van then has lights and articulation to balance out the lack of accesories, (there are a few accesories with the van but far less than the diorama).

So my conclusion when looking at things this way is that both the van and living room diorama are fairly good value, but the diorama is probably slighly better value than the van. I am of course speculating about the respective weights of the two products, so it will be interesting to see how much each product weighs to work out the $/kg of each.
