Turned my Turtles of Grayskull Don into something that looks more like a crossover with Man at Arms (like I did with Leo and He-Man).
The armor is from an Origins Man at Arms but I painted all the sculpt details. Painted the helmet metallic light blue with glossy orange (a bit hard to capture on camera). The shell is from a Turtles in Time Slash.
Nothing against the figures as they are, I think Mattel did a great job with these. I just think there was a bit too much of their signature color on them, especially for Don.

Just had Raph and  hit my Pile of Loot. Having three of the four turtles in hand soon makes me SUPER curious about what Mikey will look like. Really curious about when/if they'll announce a third wave. Hoping for April and Splinter but not hopeful we'll get the old rat in this line.

Splinter and Leatherhead are the two deluxe figures for Wave 3, I think Splinter is the Target exclusive. He’s styled after King Grayskull on Shredder’s card art, so that’s likely what he’ll look like:

Michaelangelo in the mini-comics is very He-Man inspired, even wearing a blonde wig. I hope he isn’t wearing the wig in figure form though, or it’s removable at least.

@freditor I do think Donnie looks better with a little less purple. The paint job looks very nice there, too. Makes me wonder how the Origins line would look if all the figures were given modernized or 'collector-focused' paint jobs.

This line is going to have what 24 or 25 characters with BAF when all four waves are released? I guess that is dependent on them doing the same wave count of four regulars and two deluxe figures each wave.

Regular: Mutated He-Man, Donatello, Leonardo, Man-At-Arms, Raphael, Shredder, Mutated Ram-Man, and Beast Man

Deluxe: Mouse-Jaw, Sla’ker, Mutated Moss-Man, and Krang

If Leatherhead and Splinter are deluxe round three, then Krang and Moss-Man round four. Actually is Moss-Man wave two with Sla’ker? That would leave an unknown deluxe unless round four is only getting Krang as Metal-boto is the eighth deluxe. I have a feeling it’s twelve TMNT and 12 MoTU. Actually that’s dumb as Sla’ker is a tru mash up as well as Mouse-Jaw. Maybe it’s still even as one character is two franchises. So 13 and 13 characters represented?

Regular characters left: Teela, Casey Jones, Skeletor, and Hordak judging from the poster. So that leaves three more?

It’s kind of nice to know this collection has a beginning and an end.

Thwipp!

Kraang is Wave 1 I believe, he just hasn’t come out yet because Wal-Mart sucks at everything ever.

Wave 2 is Sla’ker and Moss Man, Wave 3 according to Toy Habits who are usually accurate is Leatherhead and Splinter, Wave 4 is unknown although Toy Habits claim to know and are revealing Wave 4 tonight on a livestream. I’m hoping for Bebop and Rocksteady, they’re in one of the comics. Mer-Man is as well so he’s likely in Wave 4 somewhere and I assume Hordak will be since he was in that promotional image.

They’ve also shown a Shredder-esque version of the Sime Pit, I wonder if that’s in the works. It could just be part of the ooze storyline but it seems like a playset they could get retail to pick up.

Wave 4 according to Toy Habits. No word on what form they will take as of yet:

-Turtle style Battle Armor He-Man

-April O’Neil

-Hordak

-Leonardo (Alternate form, not a rerelease.)

-Deluxe Mer-Man

-Deluxe Bebop/Rocksteady merged like Two-Bad

Merged Bebop and Rocksteady might be the most ingenious thing they could do with this line.

Saw Sla'ker has a Target listing but no availability. Kinda worried the exclusives for this line will be one of those weird distribution problems Target has once in a while. (Walmart exclusives I never expect to go normally.)

Missed the preorder but feel confident I’ll find one in stores. It says end of April for release. That would make sense. These four waves are to go all year. So still need all of round one to get. I’m shy Man at Arm and the Walmart exclusives of course.

I don’t have much Origins figures. Manly just He-Man and Skeletor with their attack  cats. I did get Stridor for $10. Just too good a deal. You have to remove his shell but Donatello looks good on him.

it kind of makes me want to track down other Origin MoTU vehicles for the Turtles. They may be hard to find at a low cost. I’ll have to check toy shows.

Thwipp!

On a whim I swung through the toy section at Target tonight and actually found a row of Mouse-Jaw. Picked one up since the rest of the line has been so much fun so far. Pleasant surprise to just find one of the exclusives without too much effort. Hoping the others are as easy.

Mouse Jaw has been peg-warming in my area. It’s also the only figure I’ve seen re-stocked, probably because it’s an exclusive and all.

I’m seeing pics of Wave 2 on socials and I find it amusing that Mattel is far better at nailing Raph’s shade of green than Playmates.

Spotted these in the wild (Target) for the first time. Just wave one. I agree with KD's assessment, they seem too big. When I think of TMNT, I'll always think of them as in the 5'-5.5' range compared to the 6' average man. He-Man is not one I'd consider "average", so I'd expect them to be significantly smaller than the average He-Man figure. They look bigger to me. Maybe they'd fit in better with Masterverse in my mind, or Classics. As is, I'm still not tempted by these in any way. I think they're overdesigned. I'd almost prefer simpler versions like what freditor is throwing together. Though those lean "Turtles in cosplay", and may not go far enough for a dedicated line. I donno, these just aren't floating my boat, and I really enjoy license crossovers like these.
