I will say, Krang sold out pretty fast around here, but I've seen a couple restocks at some stores. I'd happily try to middleman if I ran into more. The fact that I saw so many is what's eased my mind on bothering to order Leatherhead off the website next week (since walmart seems to just suck at getting anything out).
I've never seen Krang, nor have I seen any ToG figures at walmart at all other than one opened and returned Moss Man. Which, while I'm on the topic, looks nothing like anything from TMNT afaik. Am I missing something? It's just a mutated Moss Man? I mean, I guess that's okay, kind of a stretch from what I thought this line was.
Other than MAA, all the other MOTU heroes thus far have just been mutated in some form, and translucent plastic for at least parts of them. Moss Man fits that criteria.
The turtles/villains have taken the MOTU aesthetic and the MOTU baddies have adapted a "Shredder" type vibe (though more samurai than I'd call shred head's look).
@salemcrow okay thanks! What you're saying does fit what they're making for the most part. Trap-Jaw is the only one that doesn't really fit that vibe, they feel like a proper crossover similar to the TMNT characters having that Mouser arm and helmet design. IMO it's a shame the villains don't have more TMNT references, because most MOTU villains already look like mutants, making them "more mutated" is kind of a boring theme.
I agree there. The MOTU characters, admitting I don't go deep on MOTU, seem uninspired compared to some of the turtle stuff. I guess it's not that surprising since it's the turtles being brought into MOTU where as those characters are just existing in their own world still. Mouse-Jaw has been the best, but yeah, Skeletor is more or less regular Skeletor with a helmet instead of a hood and a cape. I think he looks cool, cool enough that I even bought him, but maybe he should have been mutated into an actual skeleton? Or a partial skeleton. A skeletal forearm would look pretty cool in toy form.
Splinter released today. Nothing close to me was hitting the app as in stock so I just placed an online order since those are in stock. It worked out since I've been putting off buying replacement toothbrush heads (a three pack of them are more expensive than the toy) so I finally grabbed some to qualify for free shipping. Now my collection gets bigger while my teeth get whiter.
@misfit highly recommend getting a Target Debit redcard, free shipping on almost anything you'd buy plus 5% off, and usually there's a nice signup bonus. I tied mine to my "toy" debit bank account that I never keep a lot of money in, just in case.
I also ordered Splinter although $25 is such a hard pill to swallow for these guys. Regardless, he looks neat! Here's hoping Leatherhead is this easy to buy.
I love that Walmart sells what's clearly jacked up prices on their own exclusives from what looks like third party sellers. Every time I think this company can't get sleazier they invent a new one. That being said, Kraang was the only figure from this line I hadn't been able to get and was figuring I'd end up having to pay jacked up prices on eBay anyway. I preordered at 36 but will cancel if I can find him elsewhere.
On the other hand, Target shipped out Splinter of Grayskull today. At normal price. So there's that, at least. (Splinter was a big want for me from this line.)
Got Splinter today. I haven’t heard about wave five. I’ll be more interested in the non Turtles. I’m good with the four so far. I still wish Mikey got more Eternia style weapons. I love the wig and the armor. Raph’s helmet falls off if I look at it. It’s frustrating. I like an idea of skeleton Foot soldiers or Horde guys as Foot ninja. Baxter Stockman could get an Eternian make over.
Thwipp!
I finally found Shredder!
Unfortunately, at the same store, I found two Splinters, and had Electronics check before I walked up to the registers, and he was locked. I tried a different Target yesterday, and a third & fourth this morning, and nothing at either. And the store I found them at was way out of my way, I'm low on gas, and even lower on money (not sure what I'm gonna do on Thursday since Walmart preauths for preorders). Hope I can find one next week after I get paid.
(Mikey & Casey are in my Pile of Loot, and I'll be shipping after next paycheck to try & coincide the arrival with my birthday week [the 9th].)
And yeah, still no Krang, either.
Just checked the website. Only two stores in the entire Chicagoland area have "1 left" neither available for pickup because "this item isn't sold online."
I hope they get a restock. 😔
What’s the deal with Mutated Merman is he going to be part of this Walmart event with Leatherhead?
@doc-baghead I don't think so. He should be in stores now, but like Krang, some people are having a hard time tracking him down.
I haven't seen any of the WM figures from this line in store. I got Moss Man via the website but I had to pay shipping. Even with other items in the cart. I think he was listed as a preorder, which maybe doesn't count toward free shipping if it's in an order with in-stock items? I don't know. Walmart logic going on. I have Kraang on preorder as well, but WM had him slightly marked up in price (again, WM logic going on). Haven't seen Merman pop up as available via WM directly. I'm fine paying a slight markup for him, as I know I'll never see him in store. Man, giving WM some of these as exclusives was a bad decision. Target ones have been so much easier to acquire.
Regarding some of these designs of these. I'm not thrilled that Donatello has the same exact weapon as MAA. Nor that Teela has a sai-sword used by Raphael. I would prefer the turtles have unique weapons.
@ashtalon You can combine MAA and Donnie's weapons, they technically have different versions of the same staff.
