@ashtalon you need to create a (free) Pulse account to order. You don’t have to be Pulse Premium though. But he’d pay shipping if he doesn’t sign up for premium.
He figured it out. Ended up paying for Premium. I don't think he orders much Hasbro stuff but you only have to order a few items to make it worth it, since shipping for the Cantina is $25.
Speaking of the Cantina, I think putting Greedo as a tier was a silly move. Obviously Greedo would be a possible retail release. Shifting the sequence of the tier figures would have created a more interesting initial unlock tier. Greedo is just so...done to death and kind of boring. I think the unlock tier figures will be coming to retail regardless if they're unlocked anyway. Just in different packaging. Maybe the other characters would draw more interest as they're less frequently made into figures and would push the numbers of the campaign higher.
I agree, Greedo is mainline enough to see a retail release. Plus he’s technically an army builder with apparently all Rodians wearing the same thing in the OT.
I could see them doing one of those 3-4 packs of figures with these two aliens plus one or two more, even if those others are just repacks of existing but harder to find cantina aliens. Maybe as a Pulse or fan channel exclusive like the Jabba goons.
@ashtalon I have said it before. Something is only a no, until it isn't.
The ML team made a big deal of the Engine of Vengeance tiers not being available at retail, yet here we are a couple years later and they did a version of Goblin Queen and now pretty much the exact Damian Hellstrom is getting a release. Only Mephisto is left to see a retail release.
Then look at previous Haslabs, pretty much across the board. There have been lots of tier figures that have seen retail release either with different packaging or variant paint apps/accessories. SW is especially fond of doing this with figures from pretty much every Haslab getting a retail release at a later date. Yakface from the Khetanna, Both Mando and Grogu from the Razor Crest, Luke from the Rancor, and pretty much all the Rebel crew will see a retail release with variant cards and paint apps soon.
This time they were at least fairly honest about the prospects of these figures getting a release at a later date.
I'm still torn about the Greedo tier. I think it was a poor choice because he is such a well known character and can easily fit into a Cantina wave at a later date. Also I don't think he is highly sought after because of how many releases he has had over the years. Another never done (are there any left?) character from the Cantina, or one who hasn't had a release in the TVC era (updated) would probably have been a better choice and driven more interest.
Of course it is easy to back seat drive when I have no stake in the game.
12,115 right now with about 4 & 1/2 hours left. It looks to be adding about 1+ backer a minute (at least). So still on track for the second tier, but that last tier.....
45 minutes from the end and Nabrun Leids is getting close, but still not official - needing a few hundred still. No matter still a major success with likely over $6 million in backers and I think bodes well for more Vintage Collection/OT offerings.
It was looking bad there for a bit so I’m thrilled we got Tier 2 unlocked. Poor Wolfman is getting left behind but hopefully we’ll see him again at some point otherwise he’ll be the new Tonnika banner cry 😆
So the preliminary final tally is:
14,737 / 8,000 (+4,228) 184.21% of funding goal.
Well it made it to the second tier, but not enough road, or gas in the tank, to get to the last tier. Overall not a bad showing in the end. It will be interesting to see where this ends up in a couple years time on the secondary market.
Ok bring on the Classified Haslab!!!!
Yes, looking forward to the Classified Haslab! They’ve been smashing successes so far so I’m eager to see how they do after a couple of Haslabs that haven’t met all the tiers. Curious if it’s something across the board or only with certain projects or lines.
@buttmunch are they showing it in the next few days? Isn't the Marvel one getting revealed during SDCC? That would mean GI Joe is wedged between Star Wars and Marvel and would have to be shown ASAP. Unless I misheard.
Missing the last tier by over 2,000 makes me think that the order of the tiers wouldn't have made much difference (replacing or moving Greedo to the end for instance), as I can't see 2,000 people saying to themselves that if they don't get (checks name again) ARLEIL SCHOU then it isn't worth it.
@justice GI Joe has the coveted SDCC spot this year. Marvel is TBD (likely around Pulse Con I would think) because of that. I think with the Cantina being delayed a month, it messed up the original schedule. Yo Joe June is probably where they would have had the GI Joe one but they didn’t want overlapping Haslabs again.
BBTS emailed saying Kanaan, the Mando Judge, and Enoch and his crew are all incoming shortly. Just a heads up for anyone who ordered those.
Got Ezra and Imp Kestis in my PoL, had to cancel the Enoch set as it's too much just for him. I don't really dig OT Stormies any more after the RotS helmet design became my fave.
If I back one of these, I always back at the end.
So... why? You admit you got burned by waiting, is it still your strategy?
Yeah, it was my contribution that got us burned. WE got burned. And nope.
It's not my responsibility to make a billion dollar company's job easier. It's always a possibility they change tactics and/or sweeten the deal if they see MILLIONS of dollars slipping through their fingers when one of these is in danger.
I do hope part of the package design is the floor. Flat, printed, but the box has to be bigger than the bar so that should help with size/modular. Heck, they could even do the same with the roof, like Shooting the Galaxy did for his photos. Doesn't cost them a single extra penny.
