@jag2045 This is the kind of stuff that needs to be done more often with Haslabs. I have said before that it seems like the different teams have kind of stepped back from engaging during the funding periods and it makes for a bit of "out of sight, out of mind" feeling.
Anyway so good news today:
TVC Cantina:
6,822 / 8,000 (+388) 85.28% of funding goal with 6d 19h left.
Well that is nice to see, finally a rather significant bump in the daily total. Hopefully that continues and increases over the final days. If so then there is a chance all the tiers could get unlocked.
I backed today. Looks like it's gonna hit 8k. Sad not to get the tier figs tho.
That IS a cool video. I dislike Hasbro's ever-changing disclaimers at the bottom because someone somewhere might possibly sue them. Ugh.
But y'know? If the product doesn't light up... it really shouldn't be lit in promo shots requiring the disclaimer.
I think this will be similar to the Skystriker - it's going to reach the funding goal in the final day or two and then it will start to take off. I don't think it makes it all the way to the final tier though.
Anyone speculating on this is setting themself up for disappointment IMO. These big ticket items don't have nearly the legs on the aftermarket as they used to. I'm not saying you won't be able to make some money on it but you'll be out a good chunk of cash up front and after a year+ you'll likely stand to "only" make a couple hundred dollars. That is unless you're prepared to hold on to the giant box for a number of years in the hopes that it becomes scarce on the secondary market. Most people try to flip these ASAP because they don't want to store it and as a result the price is constantly undercut for the first few months until the supply/demand starts to equalize. So if you're one of the first people to get it up on ebay you'll make bank but after that your returns will start to shrink.
The best way to maximize is to sell the figures separately, but that only really pays if they all get unlocked. That also leaves you with a giant playset to store/sell and I'd bet you'd take a decent loss on selling the set without the figures.
(This is coming from someone that sold a Sentinel, two Skystrikers, a HISS, and is currently sitting on an absolutely gigantic Eternia)
Makes you wonder if speculators are realizing that now and are a reason we’re seeing slower backing/funding rates? The Tonnikas are guaranteed good paydays for anyone selling them separately but if that’s $50 or $500 remains to be seen. Parting out the cantina sections while timely could be more profitable than sold as the full set. This one might do better from piecing out than sold as a set, at least initially.
@buttmunch @mikeysee Yeah, I don't think selling the whole package is the way to go and I never suggest just speculating, but I can see people just wanting the bar section, or the entrance, or one of the alcoves just for Han vs Greedo. And especially the figures, I feel like people have been asking for the sisters for 20 years and we were always told they wouldn't get made. The break apart value might be there this time.
Outside of low production numbers, the next big seller is rare items in a Haslab. The Tonnika sisters fit that bill perfectly right now. Probably more so than any other figure in any Haslab to date. They have never been done, and are some of, it not the highest demanded characters from the OT. As of right now the only way to get them is through the Haslab. So until that changes they will command quite a pretty penny, plus there are two of them. So someone selling them separately will probably get close to enough to cover the cost of the extra Haslab (my opinion). Now once they get another release, if they do, then the price will come down. However they are a good bet for a high price a year after people get their Cantina Haslab. After that the rest of the set will be easy pickings, but still should fetch about half the price of the Haslab at least. Again all my opinion. The one warning would be if this finds it legs and then takes off like a rocket. If the Cantina hits 20,000+ backers then that will definitely depress the secondary market like all the other 20,000+ Haslabs.
In the end, almost all Haslabs have had a positive return on their price for people selling on the secondary market. The question is how long can someone wait to get that return because most of them require at least a year after they are shipped to see that return.
TVC Cantina:
6,992 / 8,000 (+170) 87.40% of funding goal with 5d 18h left.
Still chugging along and getting closer. Not sure what to think about the daily numbers right now. My current guess is that this will finally cross the finish line by Saturday. However I expected this to start trending upwards in the daily numbers and it keeps fluctuating back and forth. Either way it will fund, it is just a matter of when, and how much time will be left to work on the tiers.
I do worry that this Fourth of July holiday weekend is going to hurt numbers over the next few days. Monday may be bonkers in terms of backers because of it. Hasbro really shouldn’t ended this just after a holiday weekend. Ending it even next Friday might have been better just to have more non-holiday time before this ends. It’s been an interesting campaign.
Already at 7167 now so it’s chugging along nicely today.
I forgot about you guys having the 4th of July holiday weekend. It should still be fine, but yeah ending on, or right after, a long weekend is probably not the best idea.
What's strange is that they still had two weeks (+) until SDCC and the Classified Haslab so they could have gone the extra week without encroaching on the next Haslab.
Still the numbers are moving so it probably doesn't matter either way.
TVC Cantina:
7,478 / 8,000 (+486) 93.48% of funding goal with 4d 18h left.
Now that is a nice final days bump. Almost there, and if it can keep this momentum up all the tiers are actually in play where as before I was pretty doubtful about the last tier.
@canprime if it wasn’t for the holiday today I’d say it would fund today based on yesterday’s numbers. So funding on Friday seems most likely at this point unless the holiday weekend just tanks the momentum. Once we hit that funding it should start skyrocketing as people know it’s happening with or without them. Hopefully we can at least get a tier or two unlocked by the end but I fear the Wolfman is out of the realm of possibility right now.
@buttmunch Just took a quick look and it is at 7,750 so should fund tomorrow (one day earlier than I thought).
TVC Cantina:
7,860 / 8,000 (+418) 98.25% of funding goal with 3d 19h left.
Well it is all but done now. We are in the final days and the numbers are finally reflecting that. So the Cantina should be funded sometime today. After that it is just how far can it go? Will all the tiers unlock? I'm still a bit worried about the final tier because it needs 17,000 backers and that is more than double the number needed to fund the Cantina (8,000). Still I am hopeful once it actually funds the fence sitters and speculators will come out.
@canprime Thanks for your tracking, I always appreciate it for the Legends HasLabs and I like seeing it for other campaigns even when not backing.
It will be nice if this unlocks some tiers but I won't be upset if it doesn't. If they had made the Sisters the tiers, then I would be following closely, but they made a good choice by having the never-before-made figures in the base.
