Based on Stevie's IG, he is hugely invested in retro, vintage, old school, at least for his personal collecting. I haven't followed for long enough to really get a vibe for how he would handle the brand, but I don't think this is a negative for Black Series.

Or at least for more OT figures in Black Series anyway? I'm for that. I tend not to curse their choices as far as what they decide to produce, I realize Star Wars as a whole is incredible vast and it's hard to really cover any area well without ignoring another area, but I definitely won't have a problem with more of a focus on the OT, even if just occasional.

Saw the news about Patrick this morning. I certainly wish him well on his new endeavors. Definitely explains the livestream- they were without a leader and probably struggling. I'm not terribly familiar with Steve, other than maybe recognizing his face, but if he really is the new head of Star Wars, I hope he brings some new life into the line.

He's just taking back the same job he already had from 2014 to 2018.  I had already heard that before, but his LinkedIn clarifies the timeframe.

Where'd you see news about Patrick?  Not sure what you're referring to, but him leaving certainly explains why Evans would get his old job back.

Nevermind, I see Patrick is still at Hasbro but now working on Nerf.

Maybe we'll get the double knees back. One can hope. And some more prequel and game characters would be fantastic. And Darth Talon. I want Talon. An *accurate* Talon. Not a censorship monstrosity.

I could be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that the removal of the double knees was a Lucasfilm mandate, as whoever did the approvals felt they were "ugly".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Hasbro has the Star Wars license through 2026.  Is that right?  But the reason I bring it up is, do you guys think Hasbro will resign with Disney/Lucasfilm for the Star Wars brand when their current agreement is up?

Normally, I wouldn't ask that or think anything of it.  it would be a no brainer.  Hasbro would resign. But with Hasbro's toy sales down so much in 2023, and Star Wars toy sales down so much, and given how expensive the Star Wars license is, do you think Hasbro will sign a new deal when the time comes.

I know in 2026 there will be 2 Movies.  I don't know if that will help boost interest or sales.  But as of now, sales are pretty bad for Hasbro.  And it seems interest all around for Star Wars is down.

It's crazy to me, because I have loved most of what Disney has put out. Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, Kenobi, Andor, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, the final Season of Clone Wars, Rogue One, and Solo.

I really like all of that.  I even like the Sequel Trilogy even though I will admit they are not anything I or any of us ever hoped for or would have done ourselves.  But I still enjoy the movies, even if they aren't exactly what I hoped for or wanted.

I just can't believe interest is as down as much as it is.  And that, combined with poor toy sales is why I wondered.  What do you think Hasbro will do when their current agreement ends?

Re-up. The goose may be old, bald, and hobbled but it's still just one blockbuster from laying another golden egg.

Well that person needs to be fired. I heard that about the double elbows but I thought the knees was a cost cutting choice. And they approved that Shin head and height but double knees are ugly? Gtfoh Lucasfilm.

I hope so. I go into every Star War hoping to love the ride.

@trunks3540 thanks for the writeup/review on the new Mandalorian figure.  I have a few of the older Mandos and I have been searching for the new one to no avail.  Good to know that I'm set with the old ones so I can no-sweat search the new one and if I can't find him, nbd.

EDIT:  LOL at the "double-jointed knees are ugly" rule.  Yeah, they're ugly if you're terrible at posing, but at worst they're still better than single joint.  SWB figure single-joint knees look inhuman to me, they look like peg legs.

I wouldn't give up yet. I was pretty surprised by that negative review. I don't think it is the concensus based on others reviews, and certianly not my experience. I was happy with the previous release, but think this is a huge upgrade. Better proportioned, and better articulation. Easy double handed sword poses, puts most of the Jedi in the line to shame. I'm so content with it I am considering skipping the upcoming Mafex release. It is certainly a better bang for your buck, and more fun to mess with than some of the other imports.

Maybe he got a bum copy. He thought some of the articulation was gummy and may twist and break. I don't have that issue. It's very smooth for me. The shoulder pads can hold their postiiton, but it's pretty easy to get them to go back to flat. the knife does not fit into his hand, that is an odd exclusion, I agree. But it store into his right boot, and looks good there.

@kingbowser cool, thanks for the second opinion.  Hasbro's QC can run the gamut from jank to pretty good so it's understandable.  Truthfully, I much prefer opinions posted on forums like this over influencer reviews as the latter are much more likely to praise the product that their fans collect.  Maybe it's just easier for me to listen to a negative review since all I can find locally are Landos and Chubbs from happy gilmore, lol.  But I'm interested again, as Mando is the best SWB figure they've made since the sandtrooper imo.

I'm excessively critical of characters that I really like. I also look at alot of things other people don't. Plus, I think I said, I don't hate it. It's not awful. But it's not better. It has some things that are better. It has some things that are not. And maybe mine is somewhat defective, I don't know. I just know that his butterfly joints are all but useless because of how flimsy they feel. Mine feel like the peg is gonna tear trying to swivel them. And that makes it harder for him to hold the darksaber in certain ways. He holds it better with 2 hands, but it's a little more annoying with 1 hand because his hands are farthur open. But the saber itself is better then the other ones. I had to use some glue to get it to stay on the hook on his belt, but now it's tight enough that it stays when I want it there. And all the floating pieces bother me. I had to glue everything down. The armor wouldn't stay straight when I moved him, and the belt kept raising up for no reason. After I glued it all down it functions better. But I prefer the dedicated sculpts to overlays that flop around when you move things. Plus they feel rubbery. Armor shouldn't feel rubbery. And I hate the way they do the knee pads for single knees. One reason I'm not fond of single knees. Plus you lose some posability with them. And I personally don't think they look better, at all. Thats not how anatomy works. If I never had double knees I wouldn't care. But I feel like it's going backwards. And again, the helmet is good, especially since it's one solid piece and not a crappy helmet on a blank head. And the heads not being interchangeable without modification is annoying. With a good cape, the figure looks nice. It just functions and feels mediocre. It's shiny and beefy. But I can pose the old one much better. If you don't buy this one, you're not missing out. But if you do, you probably won't regret it.

And thank you for telling me where the knife goes. I completely missed that very tiny slit in his boot.

@vicious7171 if you need a third opinion this is the best mando toy out there short of hot toys, better than mafex shf and far beyond any other black series.

Seen multiple Youtube reviews comparing new Mando to all previous Mandos including import, and I have yet to see one who made that comparison and didn't think this new Black Series version rivals them all.  Not sure how to weigh some of the criticisms from the last page or so other than they seem narrowly-focused on flaws while overlooking EVERYTHING I've seen the reviewers praise.
