Got in the Mando Fleet Commander yesterday, and aesthetically, I quite like him. Didn't know the blue bits were going to be shiny, which is cool. I like that they're adding more of a shine to the armor, with this and the Glavis Mando (who I can't wait to get in hand). But what the heck is up with his helmet? It fits, but it's the loosest fitting helmet I think I've ever seen on a Black Series. Just rattles around whenever I move him. I'm tempted to just leave it off, but since he's not really an important character, I'm more tempted to display him with it. An odd choice for sure, and one that makes me even more excited for Hasbro's supposed switch to alternate heads over removable helmets.

Got a shipping notice for Shin, who's supposed to be here today. Gonna keep her and Baylan in package for a bit, and ruminate on things. If I decide to keep them, I may actually try my hand at the Reva switch, if I can track down a cheap Reva. I'm no customizer, but it seems easy enough, and makes a big difference. I just know as soon as I do, Hasbro's gonna announce a 2 pack with proper height and probably cloaks for both.

The Axe Woves helmet is loose af too. I had to put gap fillers in mine to get it to stay. I'm 90% sure it's the same body and helmet as the fleet commander. Just the head is different. But still, oversized ass helmet. Sabines was pretty bad too. But the gap fillers I used for hers weren't as thick as the one I had to use for Axe. I was disappointed. They need to really just do alternate heads. This helmet thing has been crap from day one, with the helmets either being too big, or so tight they rub paint off. Alternate heads that are just solid helmets like the old Boba Fett and Stormtroopers heads. I'm gonna end up having to do that for my custom girl Mando I make when I get that other Bo Katan body. I tried the helmets, and even the big ass Sabine helmet doesn't fit over the hair. So I'm just gonna use an extra head I have that I will never use and put it in the helmet and make the heads interchangeable. I also did that with the Grogu/Din Target 2 pack. Made the heads interchangeable instead of trying to get that tight, ill formed, and inaccurate helmet off and on.

I agree about just using alternate heads. And yeah I'll once again say the deluxe ROTJ Boba should have been a solid head with the right shape rather than a helmet that confirmed to the shape of the unpainted head it was glued to..

My only worry is I don't want an alternate helmeted head to drive up the cost any. I'm sure it's cheaper for Hasbro to do a thin, pliable piece of plastic than it is to do a fully molded head, even if it's hollow. While I certainly wouldn't mind paying a buck or two more depending on the piece, I wouldn't want it for every figure. I'd rather they just endlessly release variants than drive up the cost.

Got my Pyke Soldiers and Tusken Chieftain from Pulse today. Yet to crack them open, but they look really nice in package. Speaking of helmets, it would be cool to get an unhelmeted Pyke some time in the future, but I won't be too torn up if they never make it around to one.

Still looking forward to Glavis Mando and Baylan. Has anyone here tried to the thigh swap for Baylan? And if so, what would you say is your skill level? Wanna know if a newbie like me even has a chance or would risk messing up the figure in the process. 🤣

I saw something online about Baylan. His scale isn't too far off. Could he use a couple more centimeters, sure. But it's hardly noticeable. The reason he looks small is cause Shin and Marrok are both way too big, and his lightsaber blade is too long. It's a perception thing. They compared pics of Stevenson next to Rosario in show, and the figures side by side. He's pretty close. So if I personally do any work to any of them it'd be Shin. I'll also shorten his saber blade. It's not hard to do. Just chop off the top a little to where you want it and then use some fine (not excessively fine) sandpaper to round the tip. It's how I make my own blades out of acrylic rods.

As for Shin, I may just try to trim her thighs down, probably at the knee, instead of buying a new figure. But I'm not sure if I will or not. I'll have to get it in hand before I decide exactly what I will do.

1 single alternate head or a solid piece helmet shouldn't drive up the price as long as it's not every figure. Boba Fett is most likely always gonna have the Boba tax, so we're screwed on him anyway. But they've been doing solid piece helmet heads since, as I mentioned, the first released Boba Fett and old Clone and Stormtroopers. Those didn't change the price of the figure from a normal release. And personally, if they did raise the price like $1, for just the extra head, I'd rather do that then deal with the stupid way they're done now. The Power Rangers line is all alternate heads for the helmets and non helmets, and it leaves it open for them to do all the really unique hair styles and heads instead of having to conform the human head sculpt to an excessively large and thin helmet. They look really good that way. Marvel Legends does it too, and it doesn't affect their prices. It's just so much nicer, then having to oversize say, Iron Man's helmet, to fit over a Tony Stark head with raised hair. And if you mention the reuse of most of those lines compared to the uniqueness of the Star Wars figures, the figures that would require extra helmet heads are all reused sculpts now also anyway. Clones, Storms, Mandos both male and female, all using just a couple of bodies between them. They even just have like 2 bodies for Boba with different paint jobs. For Boba, Clones and Storms, they even already have the helmet heads. They would just need slight modification for the new neck joints they're hell bent on using (even if they are hit or miss), either to make the hole bigger or smaller slightly. It would require very little work with pieces they already have.

@trunks3540 I'm all for not overreacting to nitpicks over toys, but a couple of centimeters at this scale represents 9" of height at life size.

As for the figure itself, I don't know exactly what height each figure should be between him, Shin & the latest Jedi Luke I'm using as a baseline, but I know proportionally Baylan definitely looks a bit squished.  So whether or not he needs to be taller, I definitely think he looks better with the thigh swap.

I don't have the figure yet, but aren't his legs hidden pretty much by the skirt? One reason you can get away with changing Shins upper legs?

Also, I wonder how well Adam Drivers legs from an old Kyle Ren figure would work. Those are pretty decent for height and width. You'd probably just have to pop them off at the ball in the crotch instead of the thigh cut. I think I may even have an extra Kylo Ren body from TFA laying around.

I really wanna post, in all caps, about how we shouldn't have to buy multiple figures to fix something like this... but I did buy three figures to make a more accurate Tython Jedi Ruins Boba Fett...

Got my Glazed Ringworm Mando, or whatever the hell it's called, yesterday. Definitely an upgrade for this character. Most of the improvements are subtle, but the overall look of the figure is just so impressive. Yeah, I probably shouldn't have spent the money for a figure that I already had a version I was happy with...but there is just something about this one that swayed me.

Yeah, that's how they get you. But who cares ultimately. If it makes you happy to see it on the shelf or whatever, it's money well spent.

Well, finally received Baylan and the second Pyke Soldier from EE and Baylan came with the orange light saber.

I'm two for two on the orange. I'm guessing the SW team must have seen the first figures that arrived at the warehouses and realized what occurred and notified the factory or the factory realized they made an error and made the correction once the SW team was notified.

I didn't realize how different the new Mando was until watching Robo's review. It's leaps and bounds better than the previous attempts. My original impression of the figure was 'looks cool - I'll get it eventually.' Mostly because my son stole my Mando and I hate the plastic cape and all that. This one looked to be an improvement just in having the softgoods cape and the Darksaber.
Once I saw how MUCH better he is - I checked a few local EBs and when I couldn't find him, I ordered him from BBTS just to make sure I don't miss out. Really excited for this one. He's in my POL, though, so it's gonna be a while.

Which R2 is the really good new one? Is it the one from Mandalorian single packed? Like the R5? And what wave is it in? Like is it hitting stores yet or no?
