Looks like the Super Battle Droid/C-3P0 headed droid 2 pack goes up for pre-order tomorrow. I think it looks pretty nice, even if they missed out by not including a B1 droid head. They should've just made the 3P0/Battle Droid thing a 2 pack in and of itself and done the Super Battle Droid separately, but I get it- it's all about the $$$. Wonder if we'll see an AOTC Threepio down the line. Other than the dirt deco, the SBD looks pretty darn good. I'm eager to see how well it stands; the old 3.75" figures always had problems standing for me because of the soft/thin legs and topheavy bodies.

It's nice to see Hasbro finally dipping their toes into Black Series troop builder packs, even if both sets have left a little to be desired so far.

@joshsquash729 Thank you for the head's up! I completely agree with everything you said from what they should have done to standing droid troubles.

I didn't realize they were making that 2pk, and yeah, that's ridiculous. They should have just done a 2pk of Threepio and the regular Battle Droid with swapped heads. Super Battle Droid as a solo release. I don't collect Battle Droids, but if they finally released one, I'd definitely get a Destroyer Droid.

I think the biggest saving grace for the set is that the SBD will undoubtedly get re-released, at least as many times as the B1 battle droid and K2 droid did, to get mileage out of the sculpt. I'm sure a mainline release is in the cards somewhere, without the dirt deco, and at least a couple of repaints as well. Part of me is tempted to skip the 2 pack, but I think my anticipation for a B2 will win out over my patience (and methinks Hasbro knows that's the case for most fans too); but I'll stick to 1 set for now. I'd much rather have the Threepio body with the B1 head than the other way around, but it'll still be a welcome part of the collection, as long as they get around to releasing the other variant eventually.

Also, I will continue my fanboy whining and say how odd it is that this set gets put up for pre-order before Ki-Adi Mundi, when I wanna say it was revealed after he was, or at least around the same time. Where'd my coneheaded bro go? I know he's the only Jedi allowed to make babies, but get that man back in line! I need him on my shelf!

Bundling an army builder with a figure that isn't one is dirty pool.  All they had to do was put in the regular battle droid head, or just skip the threepio head in this pack, and it would have been all good.  But this is just wicked greed that I can't help but see as designed to get double the money from impatient army builder fans.  🙄

I've been wanting a super battle droid forever, but not like this.  I may skip this on principle, but more likely I'll buy one and just hope they do a single release on the super battle droid.

If there's a prequel Threepio I'd want, it would be Episode 1. That skeletal version that Annie hadn't finished yet. Heck, he could have been a 5poa accessory to Anakin.

The Star Wars team really makes some questionable choices more often than not.

Making a potential army-builder two-pack not an army-builder two pack by not including an army builder head and instead having a single-use head be the only option is a head-scratcher of such magnitude that one could practically lobotomize one's self trying to figure out the logic.

The SBD would be tempting to me, as would the Destroyer Droid, but I still never got a regular battle droid and I feel like I can't get the others without that, so... eh.

I feel like I know the answer to this, but is the silver buckled belt on the Mandolorian Jedi Luke removable?

The ROTJ Jabba's Palace Luke Look has always been my favorite and this looks gorgeous, but obviously the belt is an addition from the show.

I only check into Star Wars occasionally, but it seems like there are a few good looking figures featuring that costume - only with slight modifications. This Black Series figure and another few from the Book of Boba Fett without the buckle, but with a sash on the side of the belt.

I guess the Wal-Mart exclusive from a few years back is still the best version of the complete Jabba's Palace look?

I would imagine the belt is a separate piece. 90%.of the belts nowadays are separate pieces that they attach somehow, or even just let float there. As for the most complete, I would think the Endor Luke may be in contention. The Wal Mart one doesn't come with a belt. But if you're going for Jabbas palace without the belt and glove then the WM one is probably your go to. If you want Luke with some stuff, the Endor one has a belt, blaster, and saber, and probably a hook for it too. If I didn't buy the WM one I would've gotten it, but I'm trying not to buy the same figure with just minor improvements over and over. These are too expensive nowadays for that. I even skipped out on the ESB anniversary Bespin Luke even though it's a nice upgrade from the old one, and that's my fave Luke outfit. I honestly should've gotten them both, but ehh. I'll live.

Ki Adi is part of the set that Hasbro said wasn't going up for preorder, for whatever stupid reason. I don't remember who else is in that wave, but I know he was a standout. There were like, just a couple small few that they said weren't gonna be up for preorder, and he was on the short list. So he'll just show up in stores and online eventually. I'm pretty sure some of the overseas ones were seen, or bought, or posted on one of these social media sites. I remember seeing a picture of him in box that someone had. But I don't think he's in the states yet. And the reason they didn't put him up for preorder is beyond me. If they said why, I don't remember it.

Which just makes it all the more puzzling. Why have 1 wave not go up for pre-order, but then immediately go back to having everything else on pre-order? Even if it was something they were "trying out", which I seem to remember them saying, so as to give fans more of an opportunity to get them, it still seems silly. When they went back to pre-orders, they should've gone back and put that missing wave up for pre-order too. I know he'll show up on store shelves eventually, but having even the slightest indication as to when that will be, other than an open-ended window of the entire year, would be nice.

But as others have said, the decisions Hasbro makes sometimes defy logic and just drive you crazy to think about.

Grumblegrumblegrumble. I hope they make a Grinch in next year's holiday figures (or at least an AP-5) so I can finally see myself represented in figure form. 🤣

I think my top 2023 figures would be

1. Cal Kestis Jedi Survivor

2. Darth Vader Duels End

3. Wicket

4. Endor Rebel Commando

5. Darth Maul (Old Master)

6. R2-D2

no particular order but Cal is definitely #1

I know this is not a new topic, but I really want Merrin, Cere, Greez, and Bode from Survivor, in that order.

Please. I need all of those. It is criminal that we do not have them.

I would have liked to grab a Super Battle Droid, but I absolutely do not want a battle droid with a Threepio head on it so.... maybe if it ever drops to the price of a single figure, I guess?

My plan exactly. Really want a small SBD army, but not at the cost of a small C-3PO army.

@red_ogre And we're back to 'why didn't they just include a Battle Droid head, damn them'.
