So GameStop shipped the carded RotJ Vader on the most bent out of shape card with a beautiful price tag stuck right on it.
*sigh*
Called them and they sent out a replacement and let me keep the original. I asked them to please be careful with the next one and please no sticker this time. I will say this: GameStop is not a great company, but every time I've ever dealt with their customer service over the years, it's been one of the best experiences I've ever had. No wait times, friendly people, and they're always quick to offer a free replacement on figures.
Anyway, this Vader is pretty good. I had the same issue with the helmet as everyone else, but after watching this video:
I was able to get it to stay on and look correct no problem. It's all about lining it up, and pushing the head in as you push the mask down.
Still a little disappointing that they switched the one horizontal wrist hinge to a vertical and it's missing the detail on the chest paint that the ESB one had, but still a really solid Vader. The likeness is growing on me. It's more of an in-between Sebastian and Hayden.
Also got Pre Viszla and...he...exists? Looks nice, can't pose, falls over constantly. Womp womp.
I once ordered Sev from gamestop, plus a few other things (it was a sale) but the Sev package had Boss that looks like he has been sitting in the sun for twenty years. I called, waited on hold for over three hours (which was fine, it was a hella slow day at work so I could wait.) I got the nicest guy ever, he refunded me on a statue that was missing an accessory and was sold out, refunded me on Sev, and sent me out a new Sev. Not that I love gamestop because I have had a ton of problems, but their over the phone customer support people are, as you said, always kind, and go above and beyond for me. If everyone at gamestop was like that then they would be my go to toy place.
FYI, Jesse and Fives are both in stock on the WM site right now for $27.97.I found the shipper at Wal Mart today. They had lines of both Wrecker and Hunter. No Fives or Jesse. Annoying. I'll probably miss them...
The Gamestop Maul is similar to his appearance in Rebels, but not spot on unfortunately. Fist off, his saber doesn't have the cane attachment, not a big deal. He also looks young af on the figure, and he looks old af in the show. He also has a hood and a scarf of sorts in the show, and a strap going around his chest. And most of the screenshots I can find have him shirtless in Rebels, but the bust of him has a shirt with the scarf and strap, that I can't find a pic of in show. So I'm thinking this is probably the outfit he's in, but it has been heavily altered between this actual appearance and the look in Rebels.
I don't trust their website. There was a fwoosher on here that ordered Fives 10+ times and got a different figure each time, that was not Fives, before they finally sent him the right one. And they've been even worse about things in the past. If I get desperate enough to try, it's always an option, but I'm not in the mindset right now to deal with Wal Marts shitty antics from their website and customer service. *edit* And now they're not from Wal Mart proper on those pages anymore anyway. Only 3rd party sellers for ridiculous prices.
That being said, I've only had to deal with Gamestops customer service that I remember once. And it wasn't an unpleasant experience. While dealing with any customer service usually isn't fun, this one wasn't a bad time. The guy on the other end was very helpful, very nice, and fixed my issue in the end. If they were more reliable I would also use them for more Figure buying needs. But they've unfortunately not been so reliable, as a store. They didn't get certain figures in that were preodered, so the preorder got cancelled, just to have the figure show up in store maybe a month later, and then eventually go on clearance. And they've had other figures that just never came in at all, such as Bastila and Mara Jade as recent examples. If it's an exclusive it will probably show up, eventually. But if it's not it's a crap shoot.
I noticed something about Ahsoka recently I didn't notice before. Her Lekku paint is not symmetrical. I have the one from Mando, and her lines are off on each side. The design is also slightly different. I thought maybe it just might be mine. But then I saw her in store yesterday from the Ahsoka show, which is the same figure, but they had 2 of them, and her Lekku paint was exactly the same as mine, on both figures. So her lines are just not symmetrical, on any release? The pics I can find from the show look like they're symmetrical, and all the solicitation images for the figure look right. I wonder why the ones on the figure are all off. Even the ones on Ebay that aren't proto images and are of the actual figures are all off. Even for the credit collection figure. It bothers me slightly to look at it now, cause of my ocd lol.
My Walmart got the SW cardboard shippers with role play, ImagiNext and young Jedi plushes.
One of the displays had 4 each of these figures.
I picked up 2 of the Clone Commandos so I can use them in other sci-fi shots since I have no other CW era figures.
I’m impressed that anyone has actually had the patience to get through to a human being when calling GameStop’s customer service. I certainly don’t, and have never had the time to attempt it. If I have issues with online orders I’ve received, I just deal with it in person. The employees there are also always helpful and go out of their way to remedy situations.
I literally didn't have to wait when I called. It was on a weekday around 1 pm.
I had to slit Clone Wars Ahsokas skirt up a little on both sides. Posing her legs forward started to tear the skirt near the tops of the cuts. If it would've kept going it would've torn to the front. So slitting her skirt straight up a little more lets her get some nice poses without tearing the skirt itself. And it seems sturdy amd thick enough on the sides that it won't tear anymore on it's own that way. Just a heads up for people to be careful with her. Just like an extra little bit makes all the difference.
Well, Amazon said Hera would be delivered today, but seeing as how she hasn't even shipped yet, I'd say that probably ain't happening. I think they're starting to get backed up for the holidays- the last few things that have shipped with Prime shipping have taken 3-4 days to arrive instead of the usual 2.
Any chance the Black Series Clone Wars Anakin (and Obi-Wan) will see a re-release? Now that CW Ahsoka is coming out, it would be cool to have a chance at getting her two co-stars again.
@ashtalon I hope so but i'm not sure if they have ever rereleased (or unexclusified) Black Series characters. I think we have had:
White Armoured Boba Fett
Ghost Obiwan / Yoda
Phase 2 Clone Trooper
C-3PO
Paploo
maybe some others. But I am not holding my breath for a rerelease (or even one with updated head) of those anytime soon. I think we are much more likely to get an updated SoM Ahsoka, Rex, and ROTS Anakin (all updated) before him too. Though I would honestly love early tcw character rereleases.
Honestly, we may very well see Clone Wars Obi Wan and Anakin released in 2 Packs with this new sub series "Clones of the Republic"
While nothing has been announced, I could absolutely see them packing Anakin with his Clone Wars armor/gear with a Clone, and General Kenobi in his Clone Wars armor/gear with a Clone.
After seeing that Mace Windu in Clone Wars armor with the 187th Purple Clone, my immediate thought was this series would be the perfect place to rerelease Ani and Obi Wan.
Amazon is shipping Huyang and Marrok early to me. Yay!
It would be cool for them to rerelease them for people that missed them. But... they haven't even rereleased that Rex that was supposed to be a couple years ago. And they are making these other CW characters exclusives besides Ahsoka and Maul. So... I wouldn't count on it. It's a shame too, they're good figures. Probably my favorite iterations of these characters, in figure form. And that's saying something because I've loved almost every Obi Wan they've done. But this making these specific figures exclusive is just retarded. Exclusives should be shit like force ghosts and hologram figures. Repacks in mutlipacks that were released separately before. Not highly desired looks for the most popular characters in the franchise. Or even the popular named clones. They even made the colored generic clones exclusive to somewhere or another. I never did manage to get any 7th sky corps figures from Walgreens.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the Anakin/Obi-Wan re-released eventually, especially now that the Anakin look made its live-action debut (even if the original release was sort of an in-between anyway). Good point about the Clones of the Republic line- I think that would be the best way to re-release them, since those are still technically exclusives as well, no? And it would allow them to easily re-release Plo in his Clone Wars armor, or shirtless, buff Kit Fisto. I wouldn't be surprised to see the CotR line be where they release the wanted/experimental variants, both with Clones and Jedi.
At the end of the day, I'm pretty sure Hasbro can re-release whatever exclusive they want. They did it with Carbonite Han Solo. They sorta did it with Spirit Obi-Wan and Yoda (though the new set is still technically an exclusive). They did it recently with Paploo. If they think it'll sell, or could save them money, they'll re-release it. And Anakin and Obi-Wan always sell.
