At the time, Hasbro had no idea Wrecker would change looks entirely in season 2 and expected they wouldn’t get any reuse of the mold, so they priced it higher. They could have either made him underscaled by reusing parts, or charged deluxe pricing for the season 2 one as well. They made a new mold, head to toe, and then learned they could reuse it, so they did and kept it at normal prices. This is a bad example of arbitrary pricing. Malgus is in a similar boat where they have no viable options to reuse his mold. Same with Malak and Santo.
Marvel makes 4-5 male bodies and reuses them over and over with different paint and accessories, so they can get away with lower prices. For better or worse, many Star Wars characters are wholly unique, and therefore more expensive to make.
Anybody have a recommendation for the best Chewie to use in an Endor display?
If I had a Chewie in my Endor display, I’d use the ESB one that came with the dismembered Threepio. Similar hairstyle.
I use the 40th anniversary TESB Chewbacca for my ROTJ Endor display. It's the same version as the one that came with 3PO, just without 3PO. 😛
Oh is it? That’s good to know. I bought that just for the carded collection, but I clearly didn’t notice it’s the same figure because I didn’t need to open it.

Yep. Same sculpt. There may be some slight paint differences (for example, my 40th TESB Chewie has bottom teeth painted in, whereas the 3PO pack version doesn't. They also come with different weapons (40th comes with his bowcaster, 3PO pack comes with Stormtrooper blaster). But as far as I know, these are the only two with the messy fringe look other than the newer ROTJ version (which has the collar sculpted on, so scene specific to Jabba's palace) and the Solo version (which looks to be a different sculpt).

I don't know if it's an entirely bad example. Hasbro always claims that the number of paint apps on a figure effects the budget for it. The season 2 Bad Batch figures had probably 2-3 times the number of paint apps as season 1, and yet were all priced the same. I don't know if we've ever gotten a re-release of a deluxe figure before (not counting bigger creatures like the Wampa or Jabba, or vehicles like the speeder), so it's hard to gauge. But we have had re-releases of older, popular figures at a new, higher deluxe price point that were once singles, like Boba. Granted, Boba is his own mystery, but one of the reasons they claim he's so pricey is the number of complex paint apps. Yes, sculpt plays a part too, and Boba apparently has a fair amount of unique pieces, but so does paint, apparently. The only other example I can think of for a re-release of a single deluxe figure is Grievous- he's getting a "battle damaged" re-release with no cape, and a few measly paint apps. As far as I know, he's priced about the same as he was before.
I think it was always known that Bad Batch would run multiple seasons, so I'm sure Hasbro knew they could re-release him somehow, even if it was just straight up, no changes. As Malgus is technically a Gaming Greats figure as well, and they have a high history of re-release, it's totally possible they could re-release him in a "Battle Damaged" way too. When it comes to re-releases, we know that Hasbro can, and will re-release whatever they want whenever they want.
Who knows- maybe they saved a little money in the line by not including Echo's other arm? Or by releasing the clone commando, which pretty much has no paint apps?
Anywho, got in Sabine, HK Assassin Droid, and R2 yesterday. Sabine is really nice; I lucked out and got good face printing- I've seen some not so great ones. HK is nice, but in definite need of a black visor. Any tips for non-customizers like me? Other than just coloring it in with a sharpie?
R2 is really nice as well. The smaller size never really bothered me before, but I do agree that this one looks much nicer on the shelf. More of a presence. Not sure what to do with my old R2 and R5. I know one can never have too many astromechs, but since I'm no customizer, and wouldn't know how to paint them, they may stand out a bit too much.
Ezra should be in from GameStop today, and then I'll be done with the Ahsoka wave! Still seeing that both Ahsoka wave 2 and the Clone Wars anniversary wave are set for release in the next few weeks. I hope that's the case, even if my wallet doesn't.
Most deluxe figures, because they're fan channel--meaning not exclusives and not taking up space on store shelves--end up getting discounted anyway. Happened with the Dark Trooper and Wrecker. I'm sure it'll happen with Malgus, Malak, etc. So if an extra $10 bugs you, you can always try waiting for the discounts.
thx Norm and Ghost - I ordered the Chewie/3po version at retail price so consider that a win.
Now just waiting for either the Mando or RotJ R2 and I should be all caught up for Endor.
I went the first half of this year barely buying any Black Series figures. Right now it seems like we're bursting at the seams with them. Ahsoka wave! Two cool new Vaders! R2-D2! Malgus! Krssantan! Lil' Ahsoka and Phase 2 Clone Troopers! Fives and Jesse! Destroyer and Super Battle Droid on the way! I had mostly stopped paying attention to the line, but now I'm getting dizzy.
I could have sworn promo photos showed this feature, but I looked through Pulse and none did. Something was telling me to check the blue panels on Artoo's chest to see if they pop out, and they do. I had to use the toothpick on my Swiss Army knife to get under them, but they open, top one hinges from the left, bottom from the right. I don't know a practical reason for this feature, since they have no interior ports. Only thing I can think of is for him to be in a malfunction pose when he gets fried and all his tools pop out. I'm sure they had a practical use in the films, I just can't remember at the moment. But they pop out. PSA.
Hope y’all aren’t getting tired of all my Endor questions… lol but here’s my last two:
1. Anybody have the heroes of Endor set? If so, is the backdrop/background of the three individual sections salvageable from the box to use for display?
2. Anyone think the Endor Rebel commando will go on sale or know if any good deals for him?
thanks

I don’t remember if the middle section was salvageable (I didn’t keep it), but the end pieces definitely are.
As for the Endor Rebel Commander, I don’t know if it will go on sale (my guess is probably), but there are always deals to be had. I got mine at a discount from Entertainment Earth due to damaged packaging.
I received Sabine and HK-87 x 2 today from Amazon. I'm just waiting on Chopper which should ship next week.
BBTS wants to charge for my Omega, Huyang, and Marrok. I am excited, but considering letting them fall through until I have a bit more $$$ in the bank account.
Opened up a few figures tonight and just wanted to drop into the convo to say Morgan Elsbeth sets the bar for ROM with non-soft goods robes. She's AMAZING. I just wish she came with any accessories at all, but I was blow away at how mobile her legs were. One of my pet peeves with this line is plastic robes look better when the figure is stationary but you really can't move them at all, but Morgan can MOVE. I love her.
I wish we had a different adult look for Ezra but the figure they made (I assume based on concept art) is really lovely. Great ROM, nice likeness, really cool. Sabine looks great too. Makes me super curious how Shin and Baylan turn out cos it looks like they treated the Ahsoka figures with a lotta love (which I appreciate).
Got Jabba in yesterday. Never had the original so I have nothing to compare it to. Definitely looks great in displays.
Could they ever do a fully-articulated Hutt? When we saw Jabba in 1983 we had to just assume his species doesn't move well, but Lucas seemed eager to prove that wasn't the case when he edited Jabba back into Episode IV and showed him slithering along next to Han. We also saw Hutt move pretty well in the Clone Wars series. I'd love to get Hutts where their entire body is poseable instead of just their arms.
